What it doesn't show is Pete Carroll's reference to Mike Person as the #3 tight end. I guess the anticipated era of (Tom Cable) tackle elligible TEs has officially arrived.

Zack Miller is shown as the backup long snapper. I had forgotten about that.

Only a few things i'm surprised on:

I'm a bit surprised to see Maxwell ahead of Lane, although Max did play well this preseason.

I'm surprised that Bennett isn't listed as a backup DT as well as backup DE, although i'm sure in reality he'll get plenty of playing time at each position.

And i'm not sold on Kearse as the kickoff returner. I know he had that big one for a TD but he just doesn't seem like a natural fit back there to me. I would think Michael, Lane, Thurmond and Tate would all be better at it then him.

Where did he say that? Press conference?

Yep:

On going with two tight ends, Carroll said the team does have some versatility in being able to use Mike Person as a sixth offensive lineman in goal line or short yardage situations.

We have done that in the past, so using person this way is nothing new. Doesn't really equate to a 3rd TE, and you certainly wouldn't see Person listed at TE. He is a swing tackle that moonlights as a crappy blocking TE.

We still need a real 3rd TE.

True. But I think of a tackle elligible TE as a Tom Cable staple. And when the supply of tight ends gets tight, that is where Cable has historically gone.

@DavisHsuSeattle: Carroll says T Mike Person is the "3rd TE" for blocking purposes (wonder if they ever throw him a pass- unlikely but would be FUN.)

Yeah, people need to get off old-school perceptions on how a team should be built.

If the SEAHAWKS wanted a traditional 3rd TE they would have put one on the ROSTER. They could have easily kept one of Helfet, McGrath, or Fells... and called it a day.

And most of you, including myself, are "calling shots" from what we've read and heard from other people and what we've seen with our own eyes in pre-season games. We have no clue what the coaches are asking from their players and which players are executing well or which players luckily improvised.

Seahawks likely kept Person because they felt he's a much better blocking TE talent over what McGrath and Fells have shown.

Seahawks likely kept Ware and Coleman over a 3rd TE because they showed more as pass-catchers than the other 3 TEs that didn't make the cut.

Helfet is a player though. He makes the loss of Harper, easier to grasp being a legit WR in a TE's body. Helfet is the player they wanted Konz to be, imo.

How do I find a way to sign Leon Washington, MRob and a 3rd TE without simming it on Madden? Guess Seattle is in better hands with PCJS than ak3000.

This is mostly a gut feeling, but based on the official 53, I'm half expecting a big leap in the versatility, complexity, and unpredictability of the 2013 Seahawks offense. Exciting stuff.

Lol, I wasn't questioning your use of the word interesting. I agreed that Zach Miller listed as the backup long snapper was interesting, in an odd way.

I can understand that.

Clearly my response was overwhelmed by the power of editing. o_O

I found it more intriguing that Carpenter couldn't break into the starting ranks over McQuistan or Sweezy. Is he not healthy yet? With his level of talent, I'd have thought he'd be a lock to be a starter and McQuistan/Sweezy would fight it out for playing time on the other side. This was really the only thing that I was surprised about depth chart wise. I do figure they'll rotate enough that starter may be an obsolete term for our guards anyway.
