What is it with this dude? Is he quite literally allergic to splitting the uprights? Time and time again he hugs the left or right upright like it’s some kind of disease.

Tonight you could clearly see his mechanics were causing the ball to have this weird spin that would curve to the right. I mean, yes I am of course grateful he made the game winning kick but even in the broadcast they said had it been another yard or two back he would have missed it (again).

He’s so streaky it’s freaky. I get overall his stats aren’t terrible which is all that should matter but why does every kick have to be a damn heart attack?

Is he truly incapable of kicking it down the middle?!

When he was getting ready to kick the final kick with 4 seconds left, I couldn’t take it. I stood up from the couch, turned my back on the TV and told my fiancée “Just tell me what happens and I will watch your face to see the reaction.”

So the kick happens and I swear time froze and for almost the entirety of the kick’s trajectory this was the look on her face which did me absolutely no favors…

200

It wasn’t until the refs’ arms went up to signal a successful field goal that she could indicate any kind of message to my neurotic ass that we won the game.

Checking the replay it made total sense. From that back of the field goal camera angle it was hard to tell if it went in or not.

I don’t have a simple solution here but all I can tell you is that kicker of ours sure makes me nervous.

Congratulations on finding a lady who will watch the Hawks with you. Keep her close. (My wife is the one who scares kids and pets off the couch because she yells so much. It's awesome. )

And your fiancée gets bonus points for her poker face keeping you on pins and needles. :p

I hope he's not contracting whatever disease Jake Moody had.

I feel like he’s two more shanks away from getting cut but some other team signed the Korean kicker freak who can hit from all over the field or I would be all for axing Meyers. His kicks are like a game of rock paper scissors or russian roulette

He's a strange kicker. He misses stuff you expect him to make and makes stuff you expect him to miss. Inconsistent. Probably need to go searching.

Sign Kansei "Tokyo Toe"Matsuzawa out of University of Hawaii next year. He is from Japan and learned to kick field goals by watching YouTube. He hasn't missed a Pat in his college career yet.
And right now he leads the ncaa
In field goals with a perfect 16 of 16 with a long of 52 so far.Has a strong leg. That 52 yarder he kicked could have easily gone 62 yards or more.
Hawks should give him a look.

I understand that Kickers have two jobs. Kick it through the uprights when it's your turn and nail the landing zone on kick-offs. However, we are seeing Kickers missing when we believe it should be easy. So many factors go into making those things happen on a regular basis. I'm wondering if the training to hit the landing zones strategically is messing with the overall field goal kick mechanics. Because Myers isn't the only one missing what we think are "gimmie" kicks. This is year two of the dynamic kick-offs. That makes me think there's more to it than just missing the kick.

The times we would have…the phrases we could come up with….if we had a guy named ‘Tokyo Toe’.

There was actually a naming contest earlier this year that gave Matsuzawa his moniker. There was even some wilder ones like "The kamikaze kick".
This dude is legit tho.🤙🏼

Every kicker in the NFL makes their fanbase nervous, except maybe Brandon Aubrey. Jason Myers made 26 out of 30 FG attempts last year, 86.7%, which is better than the league average. His career FG percentage is right around there. We could do a lot worse. (By comparison, Aubrey has made 90% during his 2-year career, but made 84% last year.)

The extent to which watching a FG attempt fills you with anxiety and trepidation (@AROS), is more a function of your own psyche, and I doubt that it would be fixed by getting a new placekicker.

Chad Ryland, the Cardinals placekicker, which someone on this thread praised, has a career average of 77%, and in 2023 made only 64% of his FG attempts, 16 out of 25. So be careful what you wish for.

That’s why punters should kick off
