Seems pricey for a kicker. His average per year is more than these guys. Is he top 3 in the league?

After watching the Cowboys Brett Maher miss all of those extra points, which they attribute to the "yipps" like golf or a lack of confidence, maybe the Seahawks are showing Jason Meyers that they have confidence in him.

Self confidence is so important in sports and this should provide him with an affirmation that the team believes in him and wants him here in the future.

I have little doubt that waiting until later on to come to an agreement would have made it even more pricey.

Myers has been great with field goals and kick offs. An exceptional kicker makes life easier on kick coverage teams and on the offense when facing competitors with exceptionally stiff defenses on their end of the field. Good kickers can get those 3 points.

But 2023 is an odd-numbered year.

Can he break the cycle he's been in?
He has been known to have plenty of Blair Walsh moments..imo its an overpay but not sure what the comparison is for a replacement. This sets things up nicely for Geno.

Myers is playing well in 2023. That 56 yard field goal in Santa Clara to go into half time with the lead likely moved him to the front of contract priorities. The man puts points on the board. The kicker is an important position.

There's a saying, "skilled labor isn't cheap, cheap labor isn't skilled". I think we can all remember what is was like post-Hauschka.

Solid signing! He is no Norm Johnson, but who is? I don't get nervous when its his time to shine like I do the defence.

Other than letting the Rams game get into OT, he was good this year. I'll take it. One less and often overlooked position to worry about.

Myers is weird. If we're 57 yards out and need a FG, I have no doubt he'll make it. If we desperately need him to convert a 30 yarder, I know anything can happen.
Some how..basic stats.. derail your narrative.. amazing... yet again

I've come to the conclusion that fans tend to be 3-5 years behind the times when discussing the value of player contracts. They always seem to be "over payed" to some. ;)
