For as good as he played in regulation last week, last night was a completely different story. Russell went 18-32, or a 56% completion percentage, threw for just 160 yards with no TD's and 2 INT's. The Giants offense was held out of the end zone and put up just 9 points. They are now 0-3 in a division that is shaping up to be pretty tough.
The Giants home crowd was getting restless last night, with Russell receiving boos and the crowd chanting for their rookie first round draft pick Jaxon Dart. Head coach Brian Daboll has been ducking questions about who he plans to start next week. Daboll himself is likely on the hot seat. The Russell experiment hasn't gone well. Russell has put up two clunkers and arguably lost last week's game on an ill advised interception in overtime.
I'm not exactly rooting for Russell to play poorly, but I do have to admit to an under my breath chuckle when he plays poorly as he did last night. It's an interesting drama to watch unfold.
