Sorry I didn't a chance to post something. Crazy busy at work this morning.
No problem. You at least said where you had heard it. The claim being made in the thread felt counterintuitive to me, and I didn't want to just accept something on blind faith from someone who is referring to DK as a "bitch".

Yeah, the DK hate is odd to me, but oh well. It's not going away. Love me some DK, did not enjoy his fumbles in back-to-back games. Hold on to that ball, kid.

That's what I was looking for, thank you.

Seemed odd to me that he would be warranting that kind of attention next to Leonard Williams, who is widely recognized as one of the league's best interior linemen, and Mafe, who I believe was second in the NFL in pressures when he got hurt. I hope he makes a difference when he's back healthy. Unfortunately, those hamstring injuries can linger.
I think the league views Murphy as a potential superstar who already dominates at times. I could be wrong but it appears to be the case?

He played in the NFL for 9 years. Dave Wyman. He's not the only former player who talks about the impact Murphy has because of his double teams, opening up plays for other guys.
He also played LB, so he would have played right next to him. Wyman is one of the great Seahawks of all time

He sounds like somebody who should know something about the league. If he, or anyone, has anything in print, I'd be happy to read about how Murphy is drawing more attention from opposing offenses than Williams or Mafe, to the point where he's even getting triple teamed. Or if there's a clip of Wyman (or anyone) talking about it.
This is where it would be. Wyman gives great chalk-talks here

A rookie rotational defensive lineman who has played fewer than half the defensive snaps in every game is the single most important player on the team?

Are we in the bargaining stage of grief? Murphy is an excellent young player, but his absence is not why we're suddenly struggling.

no but did we command multiple people from the oline on 1 guy to let the rest of the defense succeed in these two loses? could even argue him and mafe both command most oline leaving very little room for comfort for the QB and a lot of success translated to the rest of the defense.

If he's THAT highly-regarded, where opposing offenses believe he merits attention ahead of established stars, it's even more weird that they let him fall to the 16th pick of the draft. He was a productive player at an important position for a large school with a positive history of churning out NFL defensive linemen. I don't recall even hearing of any attempts by teams to move up and get him, aside from a half-assed try by the Rams to get into the Colts spot at 15 by offering their first, the second-to-last pick of the third round, and a fifth rounder in exchange for that 15th pick and a sixth rounder. I guess teams like their picks.

Well, if I understood MM correctly at his presser today, I don't think we're going to have Murphy for the San Fran game. He said something along the lines of "I think we're looking at another week" when asked about Murphy. 😔

It was a weird year where teams needed a ton of holes on offense and he fell further than he should. I heard multiple scouts say in a normal year he goes much, much higher and it worked out perfectly for Seattle

Yes he should know, he was a linebacker for Seattle and Denver. You can find him on YouTube Seattle Sports has a channel and he's had a radio show for awhile. He also does recaps after every game and has videos dissecting plays in game.

I've heard him say the same thing about Murphy. Don't have a link, I've just listened to him say it several times. You can probably find it if you feel like listening through hours of radio shows

I'm looking for anything that actually shows that, but everything I'm seeing that even mentions it is preseason. I don't know who Wyman is. Does he give any actual numbers or anything to show it happens "on the regular"? I believe PFF tracks double-team percentage, but I don't have access to their stuff. And "triple teams"? It would be cool if that's happening. Also, Mafe missed those same games. Are teams not focused on him?
You don't know who Dave Wyman is ? Ex Seahawk, played LB. Covers the team for 710 Seattle sports radio .

Knows football fairly well .

You are joking right?

Rat needs evidence before he will consider... 😆

Otherwise you can go pet your baby ferret while looking at an issue of national geographic

I’m not going to make another post or comment on every post bashing the defense over the last two losses other than everyone harping “we have everyone back! Minus the rookie!”

It’s that very rookie who’s commanding 2-3 players to guard him that lifts this defense. Without him this is the very same defense as last yr.
Do you think Jalen Carter would have made that kind of impact?
