I’m not going to make another post or comment on every post bashing the defense over the last two losses other than everyone harping “we have everyone back! Minus the rookie!”

It’s that very rookie who’s commanding 2-3 players to guard him that lifts this defense. Without him this is the very same defense as last yr.

Do you have any evidence that Murphy is regularly drawing double and triple teams with Williams next to him? Seems unlikely, but I'd be happy to amend that position if presented with evidence of the contrary.

Wyman talks about it all the time. He gets doubled on the regular.
I'm looking for anything that actually shows that, but everything I'm seeing that even mentions it is preseason. I don't know who Wyman is. Does he give any actual numbers or anything to show it happens "on the regular"? I believe PFF tracks double-team percentage, but I don't have access to their stuff. And "triple teams"? It would be cool if that's happening. Also, Mafe missed those same games. Are teams not focused on him?

He played in the NFL for 9 years. Dave Wyman. He's not the only former player who talks about the impact Murphy has because of his double teams, opening up plays for other guys.

He sounds like somebody who should know something about the league. If he, or anyone, has anything in print, I'd be happy to read about how Murphy is drawing more attention from opposing offenses than Williams or Mafe, to the point where he's even getting triple teamed. Or if there's a clip of Wyman (or anyone) talking about it.

Dont believe anything unless you read it on the Internet. 😉

Damn, Seattle, looks like they need to draft another few studs on the defensive line cause the guys we have now are not as impactful as Murphy….and Murphy is a rookie, albeit, a very talented rookie, Seattle still lacks talent….

then do a search look up videos on surely not going to hold your hand about it when everyone else around here has seen the same thing with him. currently and former players have talked about it, media heads have spoke about it. Opposing fans have mentioned it. Not our problem if you don’t want to or refuse to look it up or check.

Well, if this evidence is so easy to find, it shouldnt be difficult to provide one example when you're making the claim. I did look it up. I'm seeing nothing since preseason.

If someone has access to PFF, I'd much appreciate if that person could cite where Murphy stands on double-team percentage. Triple teams too if they have that.

I think Murphy coming back will be huge. He already is someone the offense has to game plan around and he frees up everyone else. Mafe and Murphy healthy for Thursday and we have a shot.

Yeah I doubt Wyman is making it up and it fits my eye test when I watch the games.

Rat if you're interested just check it out and report back. Usually when people ask others to do the research for them it doesn't go over well and its hard to blame them. We could all be wrong but it sure seems like Murphy commands some extra attention and as a elite prospect its not surprising?

That's what I was looking for, thank you.

Seemed odd to me that he would be warranting that kind of attention next to Leonard Williams, who is widely recognized as one of the league's best interior linemen, and Mafe, who I believe was second in the NFL in pressures when he got hurt. I hope he makes a difference when he's back healthy. Unfortunately, those hamstring injuries can linger.
