Shooting monkeys in a barrel would be more fun.

If I recall correctly, it seems Baldwin was one of the first ones calling for off-season get togethers with RW and the other WRs. He's no dummy and certainly understands how crowded we are /were/ might be at the position. IF he gets enough targets, I think he is going to surprise a lot of people (outside of this forum).

What a situation for a young, dedicated player such as he. In Seattle, he will likely be limited. In New England, he's probably WW II. Tough business.

A late 2nd round pick for a player who had 350 yards last season and will be a free agent next year? No way lol. Not disputing his good rookie season but last year was disappointing and he played in 14 games. He isn't worth more than a 5th.

Davone Bess had 61 catches 778 yards last year and fetched a fourth and a seventh rounder.
The one team that should overpay for him is the Niners. IIRC, over half his career TD total is vs the gold diggers.

Smart GMs pay for talent, not for production. Production is context dependent and is often deceptive. Remember when your team traded a 4th round pick for a highly productive Darrell Jackson?

If Baldwin is healthy, he justifies a 2nd round pick. I think a lot of people overvalue picks. Look at drafts from 4-5 years ago and read through the 2nd round. It's mostly journeyman and backups with a gem here and there.

Of course, Baldwin probably will never stay healthy, and that lowers his value. But I think if you get Baldwin for a 3rd round pick and a reasonable salary, you helped your football team. Unless you are already 5 deep at the position like Seattle is.

BTW, I am really curious to see how this Harvin injury shapes Seattle's long term plans at WR. Maybe locking up Tate and Baldwin on value deals doesn't seem so crazy anymore.

Also, how weird is it that the team that passes the ball the least in the NFL has the NFL's most expensive WR corps?
