Paul Allen needs to do the "right thing," and set up some nice offshore bank accounts for players we want to keep.

... I suppose ten years later, the cat would get out of the bag, and the Seahawks' five straight Super Bowl wins would be stripped from the records.

In all seriousness, I will hate to see Clint Gresham go. He's been my "adopt a player" for a while. The dude will sign autographs until his arm falls off at training camp, by the way...

This is precisely what the 49ers did, and why when their fans start spouting off about their rings, I just want to smack the taste out of their mouth. The Cowboys did some really fishy stuff as well. Deion Sanders was under some "personal service contracts" with the Cowboys and 49ers at different points as he bounced between teams. This was shady as heck.

The same thing happened in the NBA and was the only reason the Utah Jazz were relevant throughout the 90's. They couldn't afford John Stockton and Karl Malone in their market, but they were able to set up multiple car dealerships for both of them and they didn't get nailed by the NBA on it. Eventually the Larry Bird rule went into effect and they were able to keep Malone happy with max + money, and Stockton decided he didn't want to play anywhere else, but things were dicey for a while, and without the "personal services" deals they had (free car dealerships courtesy of Larry H. Miller) then it is highly likely Malone and Stockton both would have ended up in Portland or Seattle (which is where they both hinted they wanted to go for several years running with their 'like playing in the rain' comments, which makes sense considering Stock is from Washington and Malone wanted to stick with Stock but make max +).

The Don James answer/comparison is very good. Just another reason why I hate the freaking 49ers and their fans. Bill Walsh was the mastermind behind that entire BS hammering that the UW took from the PAC 10. Walsh tried to take over the conference and forced his sway on the whole matter. Why? Because he thought it was right? Because he felt that James was running a dirty program? NO. Because Washington was dominating the PAC 10 consistently, and Walsh took the job at Stanford and wanted an in with recruits and a chance to win a conference title in the short time span he planned on being there before turning the program over to somebody else to fail with when Washington regained form. James said he was taking his ball and going home, and I don't blame him. Walsh came across as the most arrogant prick that ever lived in that whole situation, and I'm not some big Husky fan. I'm a BYU fan, and I saw the obviousness of what was going on and it was BS.

On a similar note... my friend's dad was the president of Pebble Beach, and this kid worked there every year. He heard more than 100 times the "Do YOU KNOW WHO THE F--- I AM? I'm BILL WALSH!" What a tool and a phoney. He ruined the Pac 10. Jerk.

Barbara f*cking Hedges is why Husky football died. That and Gerberding. Both bastards that stabbed the Dawgfather in the back.

Brandon Browner for sure. He is by far the most underrated seahawk by fans IMO. He has a huge impact on the game.

Tate would be absolutely devastating to me, losing Carlson hurt me a lot but I could live with it. Tate has been my favorite player for about 6 years now, can't imagine having to watch him explode somewhere else

Carroll too

Comparing Pete to Don James is a disgrace to James  James is a legend as a college coach, he won a NT and several Rose Bowls. At the pro level Pete is a 500ish coach and hasn't won anything of any significance.

I trust your opinion. You seem like the type that's been around long enough to have seen them all

How has no one else picked up on this? Well played sir.

I'd be offended for Pete if you hadn't also said Wilson was the worst Seahawks QB ever.

The only current Seahawk I couldn't live without as a fan is Russell Wilson. And I don't think i'll have to worry about that for at least a decade.

The only two historically that I felt genuine sadness over was Hasselbeck (I still miss that guy) and Joey Galloway (who was my favorite player by a land slide at that time.)
