It's easy to fall victim to being swooned a bit with a 3-0 start. Back-to-back losses and some awful performances on both sides of the ball between the two losses have us all coming back down to earth. I wouldn't be surprised if they beat a struggling 49ers team on Thursday but I certainly am not expecting it.

I hope this is our one WTF game of the year like the Steelers at home was last year.
Good gawd, please never mention that debacle of a game ever again. That was a game that left me utterly numb and dumbfounded by how far our vaunted D had fallen.

As much as yesterday sucked, there was nothing like seeing the Stealer running backs run over us like were were a pee-wee team scrimmaging the varsity.

This team has too many holes and the guys that are constantly injured are the guys we were expecting the most out of. 3-0 then 3-2 soon to be 3-3 . Maybe Vegas has their shit together a little better than I gave them credit for.

I truly hope they pause and consider how much a new contract for Metcalf will kill this team , they should really consider doing a complete reset and move on from the last of the PC holdovers.

I'll never stop cheering for my Hawks , I'm 40 years in and couldn't dream of following another team but I have to temper my enthusiasm for now until they can get big time players that can step up in big time situations. The guys we think are our bread and butter are on the sidelines more than any other team I can think of .

Unless he went on a complete losing streak to start the season (like 6 losses in a row). You're supposed to judge him how the entire first year went and also the progression through the season itself. It was too early to crown or criticize him honestly.

My only concern with MM is the number of people using the Ravens as a blueprint for fixing our defense. The general reasoning is that the Ravens had a bottom-five defense under Mike Macdonald until they traded for Roquan Smith and started playing Kyle Hamilton more. This is all true. However, the notion that Mike needs elite players in the middle of the field for his defense to be successful is a little concerning. Roquan and Hamilton might be the best players at their positions. And it's not a sentiment coming only from ordinary fans; Matty Brown and the more tape/analytically minded have been discussing this for weeks, and it reads like a variation of Pete needing the LoB for his defense to be successful.

It's still way too early to know if these concerns are valid, but we're seeing this narrative picking up steam: It'll take years for MM to find the right guys for his defense. And while I agree that we shouldn't expect an elite unit immediately, is asking for an average defense too much?

It's fair to start questioning the hype surrounding MM. Given his lack of a resume, it was surprising how much leeway some people gave him. But ultimately, we're 3-2. He deserves the benefit of the doubt.
It's always fair. However I personally am giving him quite a bit of leeway. He's taken over a team that 100% wasn't his and is doing his best. They are going to lose games
This season , probably a lot more than the .NET faithful will be comfortable with.

If they're having these issues halfway through his 3rd season , things will naturally take care of themselves. Winning a Superbowl gave PC all kinds of leeway. They were barely average the last 5 seasons which would've gotten anyone else ran off .

It might not be fair to MM, but the Seahawks' ownership and front office told us that the team underperformed, given its talent last season. They've put pressure on Mike to step in and perform immediately. He deserves the benefit of the doubt, but it might be time to start looking at JS.

Similarly, Seattle was 48-35 in Pete's last five seasons in one of the toughest divisions in football. If MM performs anyone near that, he'll be seen as a smashing success.

That's roughly a couple of games over .500 during that span. Average .

I'm not sure if I'm understanding where you're coming from on this .

Respectfully.

For those calling for MMs head, it’s obvious you don’t remember the 90s.

I may have just dated myself..

5 games into his fricken first season as the Hawks head coach, and some are calling for his head.

Ok, back to normal on fire everyone dot net :)

As usual, I must point out that this was partially sarcasm.

Pretty sure both Holmgren and Carroll started with inauspicious beginnings. They did win the division the first year with records of 9-7 and 7-9 respectively and then didn't make the playoffs their second year with records of 6-10 and 7-9 respectively.

MM is 3-2. He's saddled with a roster that is light in the trenches and prone to being bullied. Until JS builds a couple lines with enough beef to own the trenches, I'm going to give MM the benefit of the doubt. His innovative schemes are dependent on winning at the point of attack. That's not been happening of late.

Bottom line: It can take a bit of time to establish a winning program for a new coach. MM has a talented roster at WR, RB, CB, EDGE but the OL and iDL are a problem (although some of it is health related).
