He's relied heavily on the 50/50 ball since his legs have gone. That same game as tonight could end up being a 3 pick dud against decent corners. They'll be decent as long as they can run the ball. It'll be a disaster in games they can'tRuss pretty much lives and dies by 50/50 throws. If Pittsburgh can minimize their reliance on him, he'll look good.
Yeah im sure heis wrong. Wilson is and was light years better than Nix. A ton of factors go into a ppg. But maybe Nic develops into a star and I hope he does. The post-Wilson Broncos are averaging the same PPG and 12 fewer yards with Bo Nix while paying Wilson 39M not to play for them. Are we sure Payton was wrong? Nix is a trainwreck in the pocket, and there doesn't appear to be much dropoff in overall production.
Great post. When people so easily kill the dude like he’s a horrible person, selfish, phony etc every single week on here it gets old. I know I’m a little biased because I know people who know him and the memories he brought for me and my son every single week for a decade but still the constant killing the guy at this point just seems odd to me.I told my girl before the game that I am done contributing to the National narrative about Russ. It was fun for me to root against him after he left us and tanked that first year with the Broncos. I relished in each and every meme and story line like most of us.
Now, I just don’t have it in me anymore to care if he wins or loses with whatever team he plays for. However, I have to admit I was pulling for him to not look awful.
Say what you want about him. Your opinion is no more valid than anyone else’s. Personally I’ve grown tired of beating the man down over and over.
He was a fantastic, dynamic magician for us at times. We got his best years obviously.
The LOB couldn’t have won a Super Bowl without him and Marshawn. Fact.
I wanted Russ to look good tonight and still lose.
Oh well. Can’t have it all.

It won't be long, and those moon balls won't be as effective. Opposing teams figured him out before. They'll do it again. He's relied heavily on the 50/50 ball since his legs have gone. That same game as tonight could end up being a 3 pick dud against decent corners. They'll be decent as long as they can run the ball. It'll be a disaster in games they can't
Did he really play great? He played a great game whether people want to admit it or not. He hasn’t been as bad as people think since leaving Seattle but I’m not going to debate it.
Anyway he had a fantastic first game back. Hope he keeps it up.
Suit yourself, it's still fun for me that he's on that team that legacy ****** us in XL.I'll admit that it's not as fun to root against him as it used to be. The first year was no-brainer. He had just departed and everything was still fresh. More importantly, we had Denver's draft picks. Last year was fun, but not as fun. This year, well, now he's a Stealer so it's still easy for me to root against him. If he were playing for Jacksonville, I'd almost be neutral on him by now. Almost.
No, they were not.. Others posted the metrics and all that showed you otherwiseHis stats last year were much better than I bet many in here would realize. Now it’s not all about stats but his advanced metrics were pretty good too.
100%He's relied heavily on the 50/50 ball since his legs have gone. That same game as tonight could end up being a 3 pick dud against decent corners. They'll be decent as long as they can run the ball. It'll be a disaster in games they can't
They were now of course you can find some they weren’t but many were. Is that me refusing to see it or you? He was o leftover better than you guys want to give him credit for but he didn’t fit Payton’s style so they moved on, I think it’s going to bite Payton and cost him his job but we will see.No, they were not.. Others posted the metrics and all that showed you otherwise
but you refused to see it..
I get it that you're a huge fan of his and I respect that, but I have to disagree.
So if he didn’t complete those he would be bad but he didn’t do it’s still bad? Makes sense. And if he had near league best stats for a decade how can you say it wasn’t sustainable? You don’t have his rating, TD/Int %, GWD, rushing yards etc for that long with only low probability throws. Thats the frustrating thing with this debate, people way overstate the negatives to the point that it’s not even remotely close to what we all saw.100%
Whether he looks good or not depends on how many of those 50/50 balls he completes. This is one thing the total TD crowd refuses to accept. TDs don't reflect a QBs overall impact on the game. For example, ignore the basic metrics, and it's clear Russ was not very good last night. His Cmp% was below expected, and his success rate was well below the league average. The difference between him having a good/awful traditional statistical night comes down to guys making low-probability catches. For 95% of teams, that's not a sustainable formula for success.
So let’s make it easy. What was he then during his prime with Seattle? A guy who like knownone says could only throw 50/50 balls? Do you think Prime Russ was average? great? Not snarky genuinely curiousNo, they were not.. Others posted the metrics and all that showed you otherwise

You don’t put up the numbers he did in Seattle by obit completing 50/50 balls. This also ignores all of his clutchness, 2 minute work, game winning drives and 4th quarter metrics that were near league best for years. Go look at what he did for a decade.
I didn't say he could "only throw 50/50 balls." I said whether he looks good depends on the outcome of those 50/50 balls. So let’s make it easy. What was he then during his prime with Seattle?
