4. Za'Darius Smith, Edge

2024 team: Detroit Lions | Age entering 2025 season: 32

Last season -- with both the Browns and Lions -- Smith had nine sacks and 38 pressures. He's a speed-to-power rusher who can also align as a standup nose or 3-technique to get interior one-on-ones. Smith could help a contender looking for a rotational edge with scheme versatility.

8. Kyzir White, LB

2024 team: Arizona Cardinals | Age entering 2025 season: 29

White is an off-ball linebacker with run-and-hit traits, and he had nine tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks last season. He has the pursuit speed to track the ball on the edges, and he has six interceptions, along with 16 pass breakups, in his career. White can be a three-down player for his new team.

Kmet could be available for a strong offer, and his availability will only increase if Chicago pushes toward the trade deadline without a winning record. The five-year veteran could become a cap casualty in 2026.
The Bears could trade Kmet in the offseason and save $8.4 million in 2026 cap space. Trading him now would save $9.9 million in 2025 cap space.
A lot will depend on whether Loveland keeps Kmet from having a significant role in Chicago—as Brock Bowers did to former second-round pick Michael Mayer in Las Vegas. The Bears, though, can expect a much stronger trade package than what the Raiders might expect for Mayer.
Kmet has racked up 2,592 receiving yards in five years. Given his production and age (26), his value should be closer to what we saw Deebo Samuel command (5th-round pick) than what the Miami Dolphins got for tight end Jonnu Smith (6th-round pick). https://bleacherreport.com/articles/25244120-2025-nfl-trade-block-big-board-entering-week-1

TE
There may not be a significant talent gap between Kmet and Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts.
Though Pitts flashed elite potential with a 1,026-yard rookie season, his lack of a long-term role in Atlanta could make him a more realistic trade target early in the year.
The 24-year-old is in a contract year and has not cemented himself as a long-term piece of Atlanta's puzzle. Atlanta can probably expect to get a high Day-3 selection that can become a Day-2 pick if Pitts returns to a Pro Bowl level of production. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/25244120-2025-nfl-trade-block-big-board-entering-week-1

MY CHOICE, OLB
The Giants are more likely to make Neal available than pass-rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux, at least early in the season.
A pass-rushing trio of Thibodeaux, Brian Burns and rookie Abdul Carter could help put a few much-needed wins on the board.
Financially, though, keeping all three players for the long term will be difficult. Burns is already on a five-year, $141 million contract, and the going rate for sack artists has risen significantly since his deal was signed.

Thibodeaux is slated to be a free agent in 2027, one year before Carter becomes extension-eligible. If the rookie is as advertised, New York will have to strongly consider moving on from either Burns or Thibodeaux. still a 24-year-old edge-rusher who has averaged seven sacks per season and is under contract for two more years.
Thibodeaux won't net the Giants anything close to what Dallas got for Parsons, but a high Day-2 selection is a reasonable expectation.
Our able director of pro personnel is busy making and taking calls; K9 and Woolen are available.

Jakobi Meyers has requested a trade. Like the 49ers, the Las Vegas Raiders appear uninterested in making a move.
ESPN's Adam Schefter told The Pat McAfee Show that Las Vegas isn't willing to absorb any of Meyers' salary and isn't actively looking to deal him anyway. However, it might not be terribly difficult to change the Raiders' minds with a reasonable offer.
The reality is that Meyers, who is in a contract year, is likely nearing the end of his Las Vegas tenure. The Raiders just used a second-round pick on his likely replacement, Jack Bech. With fellow rookie Dont'e Thornton Jr. already in the starting lineup, moving Meyers and getting both rookies on the field could make sense.
Don't think old Pete will trade Meyers for the combo of k9 and Woolen. Meyers just had a very good game against NE, and displayed good chemistry with Geno Smith.

Now is the time to sign a veteran free agent because you are not guaranteeing their contract for the rest of the season after week one.

Calling 2 total play action passes is honestly insane, especially in this system. The entire philosophy is to run the ball and open up downfield with play action and I think they had 1 single deep pass on the very last drive. It's obviously only week 1 and it was clearly a conservative game plan from Kubiak but getting called out already is a horrible look.

Well this kinda sucks. I hope MM gets in his face and gets this fixed right away. We have had too many years of rogue OC's.

WTH this is NOT what I thought was happening during camp, nor what I even would have thought when we signed KK.

Again, I'm reminded of Waldron. Super hyped about all that was 'going to be done' and then just a flame out. I hope that's NOT the case here.

Mind boggling how year after year, coordinator after coordinator, with two separate head coaches during that timeframe, that the offensive game plan fails to adapt game after game and becomes predictable and stale and they get away from what’s working only to figure it out in the final few minutes of the game when it’s too little too late.

"I've just been hired as the new offensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks! Time to get fitted for my Dunce cap!"

Every friggin guy we hire. It's truly unbelievable. I'm not ready to give up on Kubiak after one game, but that game plan was just inexcusable. Pull your head out of your ass! Schotty was still the most impressive guy we've had in recent memory.

I'm glad I am not alone in seeing this. It is unbearable.

I thought it might have been just 'me' thinking all of this - but I was LIVID at the end of that game. LIVID.

It's like the never ending story. Why the F did we lose the divas? Why the F did we flip the QB? Why the F did we sign a fullback? Why did we do all of these things, and then believe the hype preseason about how all of it was to get used and then shit the bed, KK riding in on his Saints first 1/2 of season record from last year - all the promises - and do NONE of it.

Back to the future. And I agree - Schotty is looking like the most intelligent OC that we've had of the past bunch.

Maddening. If we see the same shit against the Stealers - I'm literally gonna check out and check back in game 8. This is stupid.
