It's a tradeoff. If you think the team was getting too big for their britches maybe this loss was necessary. I think it is rationalization but it also could help down the line since now nothing is guaranteed other than being in the playoffs. No division crown, no #1 seed HFA, nothing. The team has to play these last 3 games with the same level of play they have all year to attain a few of the goals they set in the pre-season. The loss probably didn't hurt as far as chilling out the fans a little before they get ramped back up for the rest of the season.

I can agree that it's possible that some positive things might come as a result of a loss, like the team refocusing and what not, but I will never believe that a loss is a good thing.

Winning is always better than losing.

Sorry, I disagree. The 2010 Pats "won" the regular season title. But...... playoffs...failure. I think losing towards the end of the regular season once or twice is good.

Recent Super Bowl Champions record in last 4 regular season games
2012 Ravens- 1-3
2011 Giants- 3-1
2010 Packers- 2-2
2009 Saints- 1-3
2008 Steelers- 3-1
2007 Giants- 2-2
2006 Colts- 2-2

Regular Season Momentum carrying into the playoffs is a myth. 2010 Pats and 2011 Packers were unstoppable in the regular season only to go one and done in the playoffs.
