I went to the game Sunday at the stick and although I am disappointed that we lost I think it will be good for the team going into the rest of the season and the playoffs. I cannot speak for the players in the locker room but basing my conclusion off of human nature, this loss should bring the hawks back down to reality. The reality of the situation is that our season thus far has been a fairy tale story. A near perfect season. In the NFL, that is almost unheard of. With that level of success it is easy for players and fans to get complacent and start to overlook the little details. I see this game as a wake up call for the team, letting them know they are mortal and that they need to prepare perfectly every week.

I can agree that it's possible that some positive things might come as a result of a loss, like the team refocusing and what not, but I will never believe that a loss is a good thing.

Winning is always better than losing.

We've won 5 games by a touchdown or less and many of those could have gone either way; this game was no exception. Nothing changed in the playoff scenario whatsoever. The only inherently bad part of the loss were the injuries. Losing to our biggest rival by 2 points in the waning seconds was the absolute best thing on the menu for our team's appetite heading into the playoffs.

Yea, I can see it pissing the guys off.

I just wanted to beat the Niners again. Then we'd really be in their heads. Right now it's "they'll get us up there and we'll get them down here".

I'm not one to pretend I'd rather a loss. I wanted to win that game as much as any. But it might serve the team well in the long run to remember it isn't invincible. That, and if SF ends up playing up here in the playoffs, watch out. There's gonna be some payback to be served. ;)

Yeap, we didn't get blown out. Which means we can hang with anyone, anywhere. The only team that can beat us is ourselves.

This team will refocus and play a cleaner game from here on out.

I agree Freshly. Even Russ said post game this will add focus that may be wandering. It came at a good time if there is a good time to lose. I believe the Vagiants will need some TLC after we are done with them.

Loosing can be a good thing. If we look back over time, most of the teams that go into the playoffs with a perfect record or 1-2 losses don't end up winning. The Atlanta Falcons last year are a prime example of that. They were A 1 loss team I believe going into the playoffs and lost in the NFC championship.

One thing Pete said that bothered me was about the loss to Indy, like he was thinking about an unbeaten season. Well now that thought can be dropped.

This is a two loss team, and i see no problem ending the season at 14-2, but it's kind of nice to put any thoughts of woulda, coulda, shoulda behind us and focus on winning the next six games.

Well then I guess the Seahawks better start losing some more games because right now we are a 2 loss team and according to you most 2 loss teams don't end up winning in the playoffs.

And you are mistaken, the Falcons were 13-3 last year. Does that make them a prime example that we better not be a 13-3 team going into the playoffs?

So what would you like to see happen, because it sounds like you want us to lose at least 2 of our final 3 games which would probably cost us the 1 seed and possibly the division?

It is a wonderfully optimistic outlook, and certainly the logic can be defended.

However there is a big issue. Go back and look at a significant amount of the SB Champions and you will find that many of them were not the team with the best record, but instead the team that got hot at the right time. Last year Baltimore did not look like the clear favorite, yet they walked away with the trophy.

I am not sure how losing an important game as the season is winding down is a good sign, given we went from getting hot at the right time to stumbling in an important game in the end stretch.

Would you consider us a team that is hot at the right time? We certainly look like the best team or the team with the best record, but that is not always the one that wins in the end. Then again, last year we were on fire going into the playoffs and that didn't exactly save us from being beaten by the Falcons.

The only good thing about this lose is that the Seahawks will focus on winning from here on in. I was hearing to much about resting players , avoiding injuries (not a bad idea) and such. I think going all out is the only way to go.

Last nine Super Bowl winners have lost at least one game in December.

Losing sucks, but the way we lost yesterday will make the guys even more pissed the rest of the season. That's a prideful group we have there fellas, these guys crave the swagger.

Remember a few weeks ago when we "couldn't stop the rush"?

When this teams faces adversity they rise to the challenge.

If we can rise up and knock out the Giants on Sunday (as we should), does anybody here doubt we will win our last two home games (assuming starters play)? It looks like 14-2 to me or 13-3 at worst...and we'll be the team with the best record in the NFC, #1 seed, and hopefully be getting Harvin at full strength for the playoff run. That sounds downright scary to me if I was, let's say, a 49er fan ;-)

I disagree.

Win or lose, these guys always go back to train, study, and practice hard with the "1-0" mentality. I remember on Sherman's blog he said that the Indy loss wasn't "helpful" at all because the players always learn something and try to fix their mistakes no matter what the outcome after each game. For example, Sherman said that he learned a lot from the Rams game, even though they barely won with a 4th down stand, but a loss at St. Louis wouldn't have changed anything compared to a win (in terms of preparedness for the upcoming games).

All this loss does is reduce our chances, albeit very slightly, of locking up the #1 seed (plus fuel for the 49er trolls).

Of course, this loss is good for fans, since our score predictions might not be so...blowoutish :p

Anything less than 14-2 is off the table. This has been a record-setting season, so naturally our best regular season record (13-3) MUST be broken.

That is all.

After many bad seasons I am extremely happy where the hawks are. Now lets move on to giants.

I was origianlly conflicted about them winning (I posted a thread) but I later changed my position. I'm dissappointed they lost, I forgot what it felt like, it sucks! But we are still the team to beat. And we rock hard and we rock heavy!!
