Goff and the Lions have agreed to a four-year, $212 million extension, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported Monday, per a source. The new deal puts him under contract with Detroit through 2027 and includes an option for 2028, Pelissero added.

At $53 million per year, Goff's new contract vaults him up the salary charts into second place behind only Cincinnati's Joe Burrow for the highest annual average salary.

Serious mic drop towards the many people who have often said he sucks. Nah, he absolutely doesn't suck at all. Good for him.
A lot of $ for him, imo. But, can't ever blame the players for huge contracts. If someone is willing to pay it, get that bag.

Hmm. That's a lot of cheddar. I guess the market is the market.

Dude just got paid. Good for him. Yep, the market is what someone is willing to pay. It's insane what QB's are getting these days. Seems like a good dude too.

Good for Goff, I'm genuinely happy for him. McVay treated him like crap his last year in L.A., glad he's proven to not only not be a bust but a pretty darn good QB and guy is cool. I love a good comeback story.

And in other news, just today I saw the owner of the Detroit Lions rummaging through a garbage can, searching for some scraps to eat.

Further evidence of the price of the QB market. If Goff is worth $53m p.a. we have a very good deal to have Geno on less than half that.

I think that is an understatement given really how remarkably similar their stats have been in the last 2 years.

Goff in his last 2 years is 789/1,192 (66%), 9,013 yards (265 YPG), 59 TDs, 19 Ints
Geno (with 2 games missed due to injury) in last 2 years is 722/1,071 (67%), 7,906 yards (247 YPG), 50 TDs, 20 Ints. If you add that Geno has rushed for another 521 yards vs Goff's 94, the YPG goes to 268 vs 263.

Is an additional 3 YPG and 4.5 TDs per season worth an extra $28m a year?

And not to mention two very different Olines
