I'm happy about the win. Don't get me wrong. But I am a little worried about the Defense still after last night.
"We only gave up 3 points!" you say. But I think the Seahawks were a bit fortunate to only give up 3.
1) Rams throw deep to a wide open WR who drops the ball. Terrell has not convinced me he can be relied on in single coverage deep. Very fortunate the Rams didn't get a TD out of that.
2) Wide open Rams player in the end zone. You should all remember this one, as my heart skipped a beat. Thankfully Goff makes a terrible throw and the receiver falls down trying to get back to it. Easy TD with a more competent QB.
3) Some wide open receivers on 3rd down for the Rams. Like, no defenders within 5 yards kind of open. It's how Rodgers was able to shred the Hawks last week and I saw the same breakdowns in coverage last night.
The Defense made some great plays. The D-line pressure was back, the stop on 4th down when the Rams could have taken an easy 3 was fantastic. I'm not saying the Defense sucks.
I am just saying I am concerned that the final score made it look like the Defense had a dominant effort, when in reality they were fortunate on a few key plays that could have made this game much different. This could have been a different game if the Rams had executed better, and teams that we are going to face in the playoffs will execute better.
Would love to hear some thoughts on the Defense. Am I overreacting or did you have similar thoughts?
