Another HUGE positive from this news is the Seahawks made no concessions to Kam and no adjustments to his contract. This will discourage any other players from trying this in the future. I haven't heard about the fines, but I would assume they will be collecting those too?

This move pisses me off. I'm glad he's back but he's coming back for a game we are heavily favored in. The schedule is very manageable now and if Seattle does go on a run, Kam coming back will be forever tied to that story. I hope he sits next week because I don't think he has any bearing on whether we win or lose next week.

He needs to get into game shape, what better game to do that in? It's like a scrimmage basically...

Still annoyed this holdout prevented me from buying a #31 jersey this year.

Gotta figgure out who to get instead.

Get out and play so we can all move on.
Same with me, I got an ETIII jersey instead which was a toss up anyway. I need to get someone on the offense now, maybe Lockett. just glad the boom is back...

Lol, break em out fellas!

I got one word for you....

BOOM!
That ship has sailed. Plenty of other seahawks I'd rather support than Kam.

You should support the entire team, Kam is a big part of our D and would never be the same without him. I don't know all the facts about the hold out and who is right but glad he is back.

This was a game of chicken. Kam felt he deserved more (there was actually a good Fieldgulls article that backed up Kam's case that being the game's best SS should lead to FS money), and he knew that sometimes front offices will cave to keep their players happy. Seattle's financial resolve had not been tested yet, and Kam decided to test it. Bad advice, maybe. But he tested it.

And Seattle wouldn't budge.

This was smart. Some of us felt that by letting Kam hold out, Pete was sacrificing the 2015 Super Bowl for the sake of pride. The reality is that he was sacrificing the 2015 Super Bowl for the sake of the 2016, 2017, and 2018 Super Bowls. If Seattle assented to Kam's demands, he would have been indulging the restlessness of Seattle's top players. It's not hard to imagine Kam, the game's best strong safety, being promptly joined in the "contract renegotiations" line by the game's top defensive end and the game's top running back. And if Seattle set a precedent with these guys, they'd never have enough money to keep the Pro Bowl core of this game.

As far as locker room unity - I don't think there's going to be animosity. The players aren't likely to punish Kam for having come back. They'll accept him. They're a focused and disciplined team, and though the Legion looked okay last week, everyone knows what influence Kam will have coming back. This is nothing but good news to everyone.

This is not specifically aimed at you, but same could be said to a lot of the fans in this case. Kam is back, that is good news for our football team. Everything else is nonsense, and doesn't concern 99% of us.

The kicker to all of this... is that the deal that was on the table is gone and they may still require fines to be paid. So he did all of this to basically PAY money. I guess I just feel like he was selfish. Sure, I wanted Kam back so we could win games, that was my own selfish reason. But I was more concerned about the guys losing their leader. I feel like he has damaged some of the morale. I guess we'll see what happens now.
Here's what happens now:

- Kam and his agent were gambling that the Seahawks would lose these first two games without him, particularly since it was obvious from the schedule release that this was possibly our toughest two game stretch of the season ...

- During the holdout it comes out that Kam plays a much greater role in the overall structure and implementation of the defense than was previously thought. Earl was though to be the catalyst but even he admitted during the holdout that it was Kam that got him line up pre-snap.

- Now, after losing the first two games and having very pedestrian defensive rankings Kam will come back and against the next few opponents we'll look like the Legion of old again and his bargaining position is much improved.

- He's coming back with no concessions from the team right now, and having lost possibly more than a million in fines and lost wages, so the Team can claim a win here but the they are already saying they will look at restructuring his deal next year, and he will more than make up that difference on the new deal

It pisses me off that he cost us two games to set himself up for next years bargaining, but I couldn't be happier he's back and have to tip my hat to his agent after all. Shrewd Move Kam.

A (*player*), but a talented (*player*). His return benefits the team so can't be too mad. Once he doesn't turn into bottler on the field after bottling his hold out

That's how I see it too. Kam is using this situation perfectly for his advantage in negotiations in the offseason. I really wish the team had been able to win without him so he couldn't gain that.

I'll be booing him as loud as I can from section 134 come Sunday.

You're full grown and can absolutely do as you please but I hope you are kidding around.
I'm mad at him as well but I think the team needs all the support they can get.
IMHO healing will need to take place and if the fans offer support, the players will feel it, that will in turn help them in their process.
If the fans are split half booing and half screaming support, I think it will be like alcohol on a wound.
Just my opinion.

Edit: I now see your follow up post.
Thanks for thinking twice:{)

I find it interesting he talks about forgiving his teammates who don't understand his position. Seems that he is the one who should be asking for forgiveness.

Also a bit convenient to report after our two toughest games of the year and losses to boot. Now he comes back to a game at home and an easier schedule to be able to skew the narrative that our future winning streak will be attributable to him.

I hope they go after all the fines and signing bonus. Gotta turn this into a positive and set a firm precedent so everyone doesn't line up at the door next offseason.

I'm choosing to look at it this way:

The Seahawks just signed the best Strong Safety in the NFL off the street to boost their Defense.

No, I wasn't kidding, but I did come around to just keeping my trap shut. No cheers, but no boos, either. I've already detailed my thinking in this thread.

Back in Seattle.
Hope he stays healthy. Rarely happens after holdouts. Don't think Kam will be a hawk next season... Too many burned bridges.

glad the seahawks didnt bend on this...kam likely will be weeks away from game form...if he doesnt go down to season ending injury first like so many other holdouts in the past. Seahawks might want to keep him behind Shead for a couple weeks. Lets see how all this affects his play now...

PC and JS held their ground. Tells other players holdouts are a waste of time.

Nice going Pete and John.
