It's All On Sam

Reading and listening to the national media, it's almost all they talk about when they talk about the Seahawks. It's all on Sam. He's not good under pressure. He doesn't shift his feet and get to his 2nd and 3rd reads. Seattle is a good team, but they'll only go as far as Sam can take them. Sam can't turn the ball over if the Hawks expect to make any kind of a run. He's not up to winning the big games.

Tonight would be a good time for Sam to start changing the narrative.

People who don't know football, and especially doesn't know this team will say it's all on Darnold, because that's the eazy/lazy narrative.

Those that do know football and has taken the time to study this team know it's all on the OLine, especially run blocking and pass protection on 3rd downs. Also the Dline has got to keep pressure on Stafford. Those are the keys to this game for the seahawks.

Kubiak has got to call a balanced game, and stop running on every damn 2nd and 10.

Nfl loves storylines...Sam shit the bed badly in the last rams game so the storyline is all about him and ghosts.
It's not just the last game, though. It's how he ended the season with the Vikes last season, losing to Detroit for the top seed, and then to the Rams in the first round of the playoffs. It's how he lost both of our biggest games this season against the Rams and the 49ers. The national media is looking at all four of his biggest games the last two years where he is 0-4. So though the narrative may be lazy on some levels, it is rooted in these facts.

Sam has a chance to start changing that narrative tonight. It won't put an end to it, but it would be a start.

He's not Me3, he gets through his reads plenty, it's when they aren't open
is where he's gotten in trouble, either by forcing it into coverage or taking
a sack when he could run it for a few or just throw it out of bounds.
He's been trying to do that lately, so I'm not worried about the lazy takes
from the outside.

It's really on Kubiak (vs Shula) and this run game, taking some of the pressure off. Sam is a key piece for obvious reasons, but I don't expect Sam to be the hero here.

I think some of the Sam stuff is overblown. The Indy game was a big game regardless of who they had at QB and we engineered a game winning drive when he needed to. I think its weird that he had a bad two games ONE YEAR last year and the narrative is that he can never win, its lazy. Daniel Jeremiah when on with Brock and Salk said one of those two games Tom Brady at his best would've had a terrible game as it wasn't Sams fault. So we're down to one bad playoff game. Brady, Mahomes, Manning etc all of them have had bad playoff games. They did go out and win as well which Sam needs to do but this idea he's a massive hinderance is goofy to me. If the line does their job I have faith Darnold will too.

If Sam has a great game though, we win
I think this is true with the quarterback position in general. If a QB has a great game, thier teams usually win. Sam will have a lot to do with the win or a loss but it's a total team game. The coaches have to create a good game plan and not put it all on Sam to be that miracle worker. Then, the rest of the players have to do thier parts, focus on being the best they can be at thier jobs, limit thier mistakes and please, no dumb penalties. Oh, and the crowd has to bring it tonight. Go Hawks!

Hopefully he does play a game tonight that forces a change in the “narrative”.

But make no mistake, the “narrative” you speak of is NOT without merit.

IF Sam shits the bed tonight it’s going to be hard to deny that the Vikes made a good decision. (Saw something significant)

If your QB can’t win the big games because of some mental block or some other freaky issues, it would be ludicrous to continue pounding a square peg into a round hole.

Sam doesn’t have to win this game, but if we lose and it’s clear that he was the reason we did, IMHO it’s time to start looking for another option for our future.

Yep, that’s harsh but if the Vikes saw it, and it continues here why would we keep him?
We have to bright of a future, a wide open SB window and zero reason to keep a guy that simply can’t win the biggest of games.

I’m a fan, hope he kicks ass and carries us the rest of the way, and through the next few years.
*Just not willing to support him if it’s a freaky mental thing that’s happening.

*as our QB

As the resident Darnold stan here, I can't even argue with the above comment. :(

Tonight will determine Sam's future with the team.

There, I said it. (and I hate saying it 'cause I want Sam to have a long-term home and not be kicked off yet another team again)

Please play well and win, Sam. 🙏

I think this is not like every team because our defense is so good that no qb is gonna have a good day against us. So if Sam has a good day it will be a boat race

Sam and the Seahawks did some good stuff in the 2nd half of the 1st game. Some stuff they can build off of. If we start strong and have a clean game I think we win. We also need to pressure Stafford and make him uncomfortable.
