Sammy boiii - 14/18 218 yards, 2 Tuddies in the absolute d*** stomper.
How scoring works: Up to 3 points available each passing play. 3 is exceptional, -3 is braindead. 0 is a neutral.
SEA 0 NO 0 | 1st 11:42 | 2nd & 10 | SEA 45 || JSN for 29 -- Zone. Rush gets there and Sam sneaks out of an arm tackle, escapes to his left, JSN takes off from his coverage and Sam throws a dainty little drop on the move. +2 could use a little more air under the throw, but excellent escape and toss.
SEA 0 NO 0 | 1st 9:57 | 3rd & 8 | NO 24 || INC to Kupp (unnecessary roughness) -- Zone. Anthony Bradford does a piss poor job of blocking and gets to Sam while he's throwing and bats it down. I'm not going to take away points here but this is becoming a bit more common where Darnold gets the ball batted or hit up in the air. +0, pressure got there quick but maybe not throw that.
SEA 0 NO 0 | 1st 9:54 | 1st & 10 | NO 12 || JSN for 12 TD! -- Zone. Designed rollout. Sam keeps his head up and darts a wide open JSN. +3, no issues on timing or placement. TD
SEA 14 NO 0 | 1st 4:50 | 1st & 10 | NO 11 || Kupp for 8 -- Props to Charless Cross for securing the edge on this quick pass. Granderson was in perfect position to pick it or at least knock it down. +1, ok!
SEA 21 NO 3 | 2nd 12:04 | 2nd & 9 | NO 37 || Barner for 23 -- Zone, 3 high. I love this play from Darnold. He sees the safety turn his back to run with Horton and knows AJ is about to cut to the sideline in a gap in the coverage and gets the ball out. 6 DBs and 3 deep receivers and you find a wide open Barner? +3, this is football baby.
SEA 21 NO 3 | 2nd 11:22 | 1st & 10 | NO 14 || Horton for 14, TD!! -- Man. Throw to a spot. That spot be a place where only your receiver can get. Score a TD. +3, continued football.
SEA 28 NO 3 | 2nd 9:34 | 1st & 10 | SEA 24 || JSN for 45 + RTP -- Sometimes we have fun and this is fun. JSN is running a go towards the middle of the field. He's got man coverage but he's got a step. As soon as JSN is passed the deep safety, Darnold knows he's got a 1 on 1 matchup for a big play with position. He throws it up and let's his receiver make a play. It was underthrown a bit, but when you read the D this well you don't need to be perfect. +3, JSN was so open that even a slightly underthrown ball is ok. The read was perfect.
SEA 28 NO 3 | 2nd 8:32 | 2nd & 7 | NO 13 || Saubert for 12 -- Designed rollout, boy he wants to hit JSN in the endzone but the corner has good position. I think you could toss it towards the pylon for Barner but he sees Saubert open in front of him and the deflated NO defense allows him to be pushed to the 1. +1.
SEA 35 NO 3 | 2nd 2:11 | 2nd & 10 | SEA 42 || Horton for 9 -- Man. Huge props to Horton here who has a simple route to the sideline but when he sees Darnold escape the pocket he quickly shifts back towards the field and his cover man lazily turns around. Sam sees him and darts it up. +1, but +3 to Horton.
SEA 35 NO 3 | 2nd 1:44 | 2nd & 22 | SEA 45 || JSN for 8 -- Zone. We know Sam loves JSN so when he sees the corner giving about 8 yards on a route that is quickly cutting to the sideline Darnold snaps a throw there. +2, Ball is out before JSN even looks. That's what I'm talking about.
SEA 35 NO 3 | 2nd 1:40 | 3rd & 14 | NO 47 || Horton for 8 -- Man. Design quick pass to Horton who is sneaking behind. Ball is slightly behind but the safety reads it well anyways and is able to make the stop. +0, decent timing but not much of a read.
SEA 38 NO 6 | 3rd 14:32 | 1st & 10 | SEA 45 || Kupp for 23 -- Zone. Kupp finds an enormous hole in the defense. Darnold slaps the ball which is exactly how late this throw is. Get this one out on time and it's 10+ more. +1, good read, slightly late, average ball.
In my mind, Darnold was taken out of the game here.
12 attempts, 20SH points, 44 Seahawk points. A+ outing.
