Is it a strategy?

Is it a conscious decision to go slow in the first half? Let’s forget the interceptions, which of course are bad, but we have this stout defense that allows us to begin slowly and perhaps expose tendencies in our opponent that we can exploit in the second half?

I wouldn't say it's a strategy they use game after game. Remember we had a couple of games that we were up 3 scores by halftime and people complained we didn't play hard enough in the 2d half. 🤷‍♂️

The first couple of series are often about testing what the defense is giving up and determining how they will be attacking. If the scripted plays get you some scores, great, but the important thing is feeling out what works and what doesn't. With our D, most of the time the offense has some time to do all that.

Yeah ive read more people saying the opposite really. We had some crazy explosive 1st halfs this season and then took the pedal off second half.

I'm not happy unless it's smash mouth Seahawks football right away..it very easily could of been us down 2 scores at the half.

Yeah, but this happened with the blitz heavy teams. Maybe they are doing it to figure out the blitzing packages?

Just spitballing at this point.

Absolutely agree. And no I am not Pete. Pete brute forced his wins with no adjustments. We see two completely different offenses between first and second half!
I think our defense breaks the other teams will. Then we come out second half with a special teams score and it was game over. Any time this team jumps out to a lead it’s game over

It’s the defensive and special teams score scores that put us ahead and then it’s over. This defense is amazing and all Sam has to do is be smart, play field position and take points and whatever is given

Maybe playing like shyt is not a strategy but i don’t mind playing conservative with this defense
That is what I am saying. Of course you are not going to play like shit, but you play conservative knowing your defense keeps you in the game (and perhaps to protect the qb if - and notice i said if, because i only watch from the outside - you feel he gets rattled. Then you study the tendency of the defense and you adjust and decide what will work best and pick the best strategy and then open up the book with the particular plays that will work best.
Now basically that is what happens in every game, but our defense allows us a little more leeway in being extremely conservative in the first half.
Of course i have no insight and therefore i am just guessing.

Coaches game plan every week and design a game plan made specifically for the team they are facing. Then, depending on results, they make in game adjustments. There is most definitely a feeling out process going on for both teams all game long on the field.
