Is Christine Michael playing tonight?

I am starting this thread because I'm curious about the extent of his injury, and from eagerness to see whether he will break out against the Packers. Thank you.

Haven't seen anything on CM's status tonight. Only thing I've read so far is what Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio 950 KJR AM reported.

OUT- Jordan Hill, Jesse Williams, Sidney Rice, Zach Miller and Michael Robinson.

Game time decisions- Bruce Irvin and Cliff Avril

Well, PC said Beast would be getting more carries tonight. I predict he will be in for at least the whole first quarter, possible the first half. Turbin will most likely take carries after that for at least a qtr. Theyll probably hold him out tonight because of the minor injury. Give Ware and Coleman some more eval time during the 4th. The team already knows Michael is a lock on the roster. No need to rush him back in a preseason game.

Robinson is out tonight, so it will be interesting to see whos running at FB with the 1's (if they even use a FB). Im interested to see Bates, who has supposedly been practicing there, in the role. Hes a big kid, but doesnt seem that big to play the part. Also will be interesting to see if Ware gets the start at FB since all we have heard about is this hybrid back, and yet he has only really run from the HB position.

I think he will see a few snaps, at minimum.

BTW: I'm going to start referring to him "Chris-10" from now on.

Not because of the way his name is supposed to be pronounced, but because he's going to be good for 10 yards every time he touches the ball.

:p

I'm looking for Christine Michael to show up in the return game ... and possibly other special team roles. Only Marshawn Lynch is excused from special teams duty.

I've said a few times, but I knew Cable was brilliant when he identified and placed Marcel Reese at FB in Oakland. Reese was always intriguing at UDub, but in a Devin Hester way. Meaning, you want him on the field, but where exactly? Cable identified and carved out a brilliant role for him.

It'll be fun to watch Bates get some reps. I hope the open up the playbook a bit, to get designed throws or delayed screens to him.
How can you NOT love a coach who thinks outside of the box at fullback? It's brilliant.

ROOKIE WATCH: SPENCER WARE

With Robinson unavailable and rookie running back Christine Michael back after sitting out last week’s game, the team’s sixth-round draft choice should get ample work at fullback against the Packers after being the leading rusher in last week’s win over the Broncos.

“He’s had a good camp. He’s been a really fun guy to look at,” Carroll said of Ware. “He’s got toughness about him. He’s got flexibility in that he can catch the ball. And he’s working hard on his blocking. He’s contributing on special teams.

“He’s making a real bid to try to make this football team.”

Bates looks like a WR playing FB, Reese looks like a FB. If Bates can add 20-30lbs that would be awesome, I would consider that.

How many backs are we keeping this year? I'd like to think 5 but where may that short us in other important areas of the roster?

I've heard that he's 230# right now. It may have been on a broadcast, though and sometimes they'll just approximate weight. He does need to add some weight, though. He looks like he could carry it. 250#-260# would be pretty cool if he can still move and be a factor in the passing game.

I hope so. It is like he's already 3-4 yards deep as soon as he touches the ball. I love his style and our RBs.

If they think Ware is the FB of the future, they have to keep him on the active roster. I've been wrong many times, but I don't see it. Ware played quite a bit of FB last week, and wasn't exactly a bulldozer. I like him too, I think he is going to be a very good special teams player and would be a good 3rd down back type, I just don't know if I see him supplanting a pro-bowler at this stage of the franchise's development.

We kept 5 last year at the start of the season as well as 6 WR.

Mike Rob will be on the active roster. I'm not in a rush to dismiss a player after 2 preseason games at a new position.

Instead of fullback I think the best experiment for Phil Bates would be as a Delanie Walker-type "move" TE.
