I have to say that this guy has grown on me over the last year. When he first came to us it looked like he would not make it long term. Now he is a player I absolutely do not want to lose. We have to find a way to re-up him before he hits the market. On top of his great play he brings a certain moxie and attitude that gets the team going. Thoughts?

I always like the Tate pick. I'll admit it took him a while to develop, but most receivers do, in fact, require some developmental time. Golden was too often compared-unfairly, IMO-to other receivers and declared a bust far too early by over-critical fans and bloggers. I'm just glad the team had the patience to work with him and let him grow into the job.

And I agree, it'd be great to lock him up long term. He's always shown flashes of brilliance. Now, he's starting to develop that consistancy that the great WRs need. I'd love it if Wilson-Tate became the new Krieg-Largent. :)

Tate's one of my fav. players on the team. Big play waiting to happen. Big PI call in the game on Asomugha because he couldn't defend tate any other way.

Agreed. I used to basically think of him and Deon Butler as the same thing, sort of poor man Deon Branchs I thought.

Tate has grown so much, and Im glad I was so wrong about him

He's become a great receiver. But damn i'd rather have Thurmond or Kearse returning punts, Tate scares the hell out of me sometimes.

I've got the Tate jersey in the shopping cart, just waiting for him to resign...

He has been doing pro-bowl caliber return duty...but he did spook me last night when he basically dove forward to field 1 punt. That's one that he should have ran from, IMO and I think there was another that he should have fair caught, took the hit but held on. He is exciting as hell though, and for every suspect decision he's made, he's made 10 great ones (inc fielding inside the 10, based on the trajectory of the ball and proximity of the gunner). Love our organic guys and hope we figure out a way to keep him while compensating him appropriately.
