Some peeps are having real difficulties with this whole thing. It's kinda funny to watch...

Personally, i really liked tate and thought he made us better, but he's hardly unreplaceable. We'll be fine. Kinda looking forward to seeing who comes in to replace him to he honest. Do we draft someone? Re-sign Rice? Sign Kenny Britt on the Mike Williams plan? Promote Phil Bates on the Jermaine Kearse plan? Build a robot? Reanimate a corpse? Always an interesting time when something like this comes along when you have John Schneider...

In retrospect though, retaining Bennett was much bigger for us. Cant be mad at this off season thus far. always have to remember, those who win in March don't usually win in January...

Come on it's obvious that we either offered him far less or nothing at all. It's Detroit think about that.

"It's Detroit" doesn't hurt much once you've already got a ring. Besides, they have a very good QB and will throw the ball to Tate a lot more. I can see the the attractiveness to him signing there, no doubt about it.
No argument but it's Detroit even Barry Sanders was made irrelevant. I'm not mad at him, make your money. But Detroit? C'mon Golden you're so disappointing.

Ridiculous. Barry Sanders was never irrelevant. Not even close.

Lol seriously...wow. Barry Sanders irrelevant?

Plyka, I agree that Tate is not worth 5/31 to us, but that he probably is to Detroit.

However, I do want you to remember that when I speak generally about the forum, I am speaking generally and not accounting for every poster that has posted here on the topic before.

Tate's new contract comes with an extra month off every year. It's called January.

Will miss you Golden but the Hawks move on from this OK.

Hard choices to make for the F.O. They have to really agonize over where they are going to spread the money around to try and keep this thing going. I for one like the choices that they've made so far.

This is a bummer, but I understand. Loved Golden and what he did for us.

Quite frankly, I think some of you guys are just trying to make yourselves feel better about the loss of Tate with some of this crap.

We just lost a very good receiver who also happened to be an elite punt returner. Sorry guys, but that is not easily replaceable.

:13:

I'd like to have seen GT stay, but I think his size/skill set is just redundant enough to make him expendable. No tears...

I think it's easier than we might think. They obviously chose not only Bennett over Tate, but Baldwin over Tate. I have long held that Baldwin would be the one to keep (though of course, I'd rather have both).

Not sour grapes, but he's a very good player, and we can find or coach up other players to that level. It's the elite ones you can't lose.

You know something is screwy when Blitzer is being negative

I rarely get upset about a player in any sport trying to get paid. Back in the day A-Rod got me but for the most part guys are wanting to get paid relative to their peers and that is how anyone see's it in any occupation. If you are doing the same job as joe blow next to you and he makes more money than you are going to feel used and all that.. that's the way I've always looked at it. I don't blame Tate one iota.
