He's a starter on atleast 12 teams in the league...(QB play in the NFL is awful)..... but he's not someone ur gonna win games in the playoffs with
We’ll let those other 12 teams live in limbo, middle of the field road type play almost making the playoffs but always coming up short … but that isn’t what I want , legion of boom days spoiled me I want more of that type not this …

I suggest we find a floundring,lack-luster,backup QB. Pay him way to much money, then pick up a superbowl quality QB in round 3 to 6 of the draft. Then get rid of the high price guy and create history with said new guy. I think it could happen!!!

What gets me every time with Geno is his lack of leadership. A play doesn't go well, he's pointing at the receivers or the OL. He never taps himself on the chest and admits when he screwed up. He doesn't elevate the team; he only elevates himself. I know the OL is hot garbage right now. But he's not moving around this year like he did in years past. Did the hip drop tackle last year mess him up that bad? The more he gets hit, the worse he plays and points the blame somewhere else. Sure, his interviews are all team friendly, but really... this guy just isn't a leader. Put someone back there who's willing to take as much responsibility for the failures as he is with the successes. Save $25 million and move on. I hear Kirk Cousins may be available for vet minimum this off season. (sarcasm)

I know it's not the point of your post, but Flynn was never floundering or lackluster here, or before we had signed him. He was just unproven. He wasn't really bad until he screwed up his elbow and moved on. His contract wasn't bad at all, even at the time.

I still contend if one of the teams before us had snagged Russ before we could get him, we still would have been good with Flynn. Not AS good, mind you, as I think there would have been a ceiling, but at worst, nobody would be saying he was overpaid.

Did this Idiot really told the Reporter that he wants Big Dollar because he is a Top QB?
There are 3 QBs in the NFL with 15 or more INTs
1. Cousins -> benched and gone
2. Mayfield -> has 2 times more TDs than Geno (34)
3. Geno -> he wants big money

What a ******* Clown

Geno isn't the answer but I hope we do not draft a QB in the first or second round. We have ignored the OL for a decade and it's time to start investing into it for once.
Ignored? We’ve drafted 23 offensive linemen since 2010, and signed at least 6 free agent offensive linemen since 2017.

Yes, we need to be better at selecting good ones, but it’s a league wide issue. Very few teams have a hit rate above 20% on offensive linemen.

Well now that doesn't sound like the humble, team-first Geno we've all been sold.

Personally, I think Geno will never return to the form he seemed to magically have when his career was first resurrected.

And I believe the reason for this is that he needs his quarterback whisperer to center him, and get him out of his head in the big moments.

Ignored isn't the right word. More like undervalued or low priority.

JS and/or PC simply did not value offensive linemen the way they did other positions. The 2020 draft was a classic example. Instead of drafting the best OL on the board at that point and a position of need, Creed Humphrey, we spent our top pick and one of just 3 selections on a WR that at best would have been third on the depth chart.

A few years ago, I did a mini study and assigned a draft round to each position drafted during the PC/JS era then added up the numbers and obtained an average round each position was taken in. OL was way down the list of their priorities.

That last pick, the one that killed our best chance to tie or perhaps take the lead late in the game, was obviously being thrown to a spot, leaving just one of two possible causes: Metcalf either ran a sloppy route and made more of a 45 degree cut instead of a sharp 90 degree out route or he and Geno weren't on the same page.

I wasn't listening to the play-by-play, but my understanding is that Butt Fumbler Mark Sanchez laid the blame solely on Metcalf, and my guess is that he's probably correct. Metcalf is notorious for running sloppy routes that has resulted in interceptions, and this one appears to me to have been the cause of that pick.

After working closely together for the 3 seasons that Geno has been a starter, those two still can't get on the same page even when the entire season is on the line. I want both of them gone.

On 1 drive, he looks like the best QB in the league
the very next drive he looks like James Winston.

This is Geno Smith. Sometimes he looks awesome and that's what constitutes people defending and making excuses for him, but there's always that flipside that rears it's ugly head.

This is my biggest problem with him.

He's done a lot well and has made plays.

He can run a 2 minute and fund a rhythm and lead important drives

That all gets washed by the consistent poor decision making, lack of game awareness and what looks like a lack of vision

A little bit of pressure and these things just get worse

He's played too much ball and is way too deep in his career to expect any of that to get better.

Exactly. This is why I always said he could or would never be a Super Bowl winning QB. He just doesn't have the mental makeup for that kind of stage.

Sanchez first blamed DK then seemed to blame Geno the next time. He was confusing.

Even if the last one is on DK, him taking the sack on the series before just can’t happen when you’re a vet. It can’t.
This right here. At some point, you would think people would see what is right in front of us. This guy has regressed, big time. gePICK indeed. I respect people sticking up for their guy, shoot, I do it with DK.
I'm not sure we've seen a luckier QB, when it comes to dropped interceptions. Enough already, geezus. Call me a Geno hater, I don't care. He's just not even close to a clutch QB. I don't give a rip what his stats say, or how he looks between the 20s. His decision making has been a MASSIVE part of the team losing these games in 2024.
Bringing him back in 2025 would be next level stupid.

Yeah, I didn't listen to the commentary and picked up on what Sanchez had said in a Facebook post. But I think it's pretty clear that Metcalf was supposed to be at the spot where Geno threw.

We'll never know for sure whose fault it was, but based on past history, I'd put my money on Metcalf.

Of course you would :ROFLMAO:

Bad route, maybe. It looked more like back foot throw into a crowd of guys, AGAIN. And IF DK ran the wrong route, he deserves some blame.

Geno is 19th in the league QBR. He's a turnover machine. Excuses won't change what is happening to this guy in 2024. 17 TD's, 15 INTERCEPTIONS.
Is that good enough? Hell no.

I just got through watching the replay. Geno wasn't under any pressure to speak of, but he did throw it off his back foot like you said. But there wasn't a "crowd" of defenders. There was one DB covering Metcalf and facing Geno, and when he saw where Geno was going with the ball, came off Metcalf and made the easy pick. Geno threw the ball where he wanted to, but for whatever reason, Metcalf wasn't there.

Please add John Schneider to that list and I'm right there with you.

He could have had at least four picks in this game.

There's no good reason to give this guy new money in two years when he turns 36. Lack of options are probably the only thing saving his job for next year.
There will be no extension for Geno. We'll let him play out his final year, and then that'll be that.
