I don’t disagree with most of what people said but someone mentioned his defense needing talent just like Pete’s defense did. It’s a true statement. After listening to dozens of film guys, ex players including guys who played for Pete etc. I’m fully convinced it’s a much better scheme for the modern NFL and it/he is flat out better at adjusting to issues. Even Sherman has alluded to Macdonald being an absolute genius.

I also think it’s fair to look at Baltimore under him and draw comparisons. Why wouldn’t you? It’s a completely new system. Peres defense didn’t gel right away either. It takes some time.

I’ve seen enough, heard enough from people much smarter than all of us when it comes to football to have some faith he knows what he’s doing.

This is why I'm just viewing this season more so as a prep for 2025-26 and not worrying about this year's playoffs. This is NOT the year for the Seahawks to contend...no matter how badly you want it to be. What you want is this to be the final of the Chiefs/Niners window and the Hawks to spike the following 2-3 years. Sure the Seahawks in 2012-2013 had a chance to do damage that year in the playoffs, but it was still really the 2013-2014 season they were setting up for (and won).

David Goggins talks a lot about the instant gratification and softened crowd and how much easier it is to be great for anyone who has the patience and discipline. As fans, we're obviously not on the field, but we can be patient along side with what is most likely JS and MM's master plan. If they were worried about winning NOW, they would have got a bunch of major free agents and mortgaged the future during the draft.
Curious what aspect of the team convinces you that they cant be more successful by a good bit than the 2022 team.

Weren't we an almost rock bottom defence last year? Like I am talking the 30s? Isn't it a bit early to be questioning McDonald if we don't look like we are very close to being top 5 or something? Hawks didn't have a lot of cap room to play with to bring in a bunch of free agents. IMO with the changes we were able to make turning this D into middle of the pack after what we saw last year would be a positive achievement.

I expect to be there by end of year. Middle of pack meaning 12-18 or so. I think we had been underperforming lately, but with that talent the new scheme should get us there IMO. I don't expect top 10 status until the second or third year.
