Seattle's offense is the worst in the league during the scripted first 15 plays. I know this probably doesn't surprise anyone.

But Pete's play it safe mentality is putting his team in a hole, that his QB then has to get him out of in the 2nd half.

[tweet]https://twitter.com/benbbaldwin/status/1176561939197169670[/tweet]

Russell Wilson had completed 13 of 14 passes at the half. So he was following and executing this garbage ass gameplan. The problem was, it was garbage.

After the disaster this week I expect Pete to double down and go uber conservative this week. He is going to heavily emphasize his "philosophy". It's against AZ so he should get away with it, and the team will win the game, but I expect super-duper ugly.

It's a waste of time to play this style as they cannot afford to play it against playoff teams, or it will be an automatic L.

Here is the thing. When playing this style, if they just make a couple mistakes, they could easily lose. This style gives no margin for error. He doesn't seem to realize he doesn't have the #1 scoring defense anymore.

How much of it falls on Russ? Maybe he's just not as good early. It was the same story with Bevell, slow start finish strong. He always looks stoned to me early in games. My guess is it's a combination of both.

While I agree with your analysis it doesn’t go anywhere with our fan base. He won a super bowl and no one can name a successor who is an immediate success. Continue onward with the 8-8 or 9-7 complacency.

I predicted exactly this in the "4-1" thread I believe it was. We also call it playing down to our competition. I think you are absolutely correct and if the Hawks do win it'll be by a late FG after a thoroughly uninspiring performance.

Usually I tend to agree with you fade, but I don't agree with you on this one. And heres why, Good teams are collecting film on potential teams that might be involved with making the play offs. Pete's philosophy is apposite the fact that more is less. The less good film they have on us is better. Thats why Pete's early season games are so vanilla in theme. Just wait for the Lambs come strolling in to town.

What could Wilson have done differently on the opening series on Sunday?

He executed It, but it was DOA from the start.

Three and out, punt.

I'm not just talking this game, i'm talking most games. Agaisnt Pittsburgh i think they start with a back shoulder fade that Metcalf makes a great catch on after a horrible throw, then i think the next play is exactly the same but and even worse pass.

As much as we all might want to be the Rams, Chiefs, Saints, etc if we get into a shootout with these teams were gonna end up in trouble.

Also nothing wrong with the 1st down screen to Carson if Dissley does nothing it's a 3 yard gain, if he gets out and blocks like he should have it could be more. Nothing wrong with the first and 20 play. Russ audibles into a run on 2 and 15 so no sure that's on Pete. I don't have a problem with a 3 and 13 screen either.

And you know he audibled to a run how? For all you know all he did was change the side of the run.

They call the game with a whole different mentality when they play explosive offensive teams. They didn't do this crap against the Chiefs last year. And the Rams 2x last year, ultimately losses against the Rams, but they kept the pedal to the floor for 4 quarters and just came up short.

No, Pete reserves this conservative crap against the bad QB'd teams, and plays down to their level opening up the door for a loss. And it happens at least three times a year. I am sick of it. No more.

Ahh he was 3 for 4 on his first 4 passes, far from a bad start and 8 for 11 in the first qtr again not slow or bad.

Yeah ahh no, here is an idea play to win from play 1 and then add new stuff based on film of the other teams defense and what they will give you. Add stuff to take advantage of their short comming that is why NE is always good.

THere was a game a few years back where we opened the game with a Russ RO scramble. I felt like that got him pumped early. I'd like to see Russ use his legs from the start to have the D second guessing things. It could open up the Deep ball and run game just having those easy first downs in the back of their mind.

NE will attack a weakness from play 1, then once they see how you adapt if you can they will find your next weakness.

Still think we have a Top 5 coach, QB, and run game. We just need to pull it together over the next 13 weeks which will happen.

Absolutely.

Boots, Sprintouts, waggles, move the pocket, RPO, use the full repertoire, and skew the attack towards the opponents weakness. It's not hard, but Pete makes it hard for his offense at the start of every game with few exceptions, for "philosophical" reasons.

He is grounded in his beliefs but not as stubborn as we are making him out to be. I want to start faster too, but I also believe every team in the league wants to start fast and keep on the gas. It's just not realistic for most.

We could start a Social media movement #FreeRuss !!!!

I'm in, just give me some good data and I'll blast it out on the .net Twitter, FB, and IG.

I see Baldwin is now actively rooting against the Seahawks. "Well deserved."

I think I'll be paying even less attention to what that self-aggrandizing smuglord has to say now.

The Hawks went toe to toe with the Rams twice last year and beat the Chiefs in a shoot-out so what the hell are you talking about?
