There isn't a human alive who would have stated Seattle was better than Atlanta 24 hrs ago
Atlanta was torching opposing defenses and Seattle's much maligned (and deservedly so) defense held them to 14 at home
This is a flawed team. They aren't going to fix that this year. Seeing they can overcome those things and win tough games anyway should be encouraging. For us
In what universe is the way a team starts a guarantee of how they will finish?
ESPECIALLY when the team has a new staff, new scheme, new philosophy and has been riddled with injuries that make it more difficult for them to do the one thing that they need to do to be successful - learn how to play the scheme and do it together?
Your point woukd have SOME validity if you were talking about a team with a staff and players that have been in place for a few years. If coaches, players and scheme have been shown to be ineffective after having had acequate time to gel and settle in, then sure, one can make the argument that one or the other or both (coaching and personnell) have to change before in season improvement occurs.
None of that is the case in Seattle. And there are quite a few people who beleive the Seahawks THIS YEAR, are one of the top teams in the NFC. The fact that they have a winning record despite playing a 4th string RT, having sustained crippling injuries on defense, and not yet playing 'together' on either side of the ball is evidence of that.
We didnt get blown out in Detroit. We were in position to win that game despite having virtually the entire deck stacked against us. What other offense in the league has trounced the Lions the way ours did? Not Minnesota... we can start there.
We were also in position to win against the Niners and didnt, not because they outplayed us or were the better team, but because we beat ourselves. Players, coaches have to a man said as much.
And the loss to the Giants. Depsite NOT EVEN SHOWING UP for the game , we should have taken it to overtime at a minimum. And again, to a man, the team admitted that they were looking toward the 9ers matchup and underestimated the Giants.
And forget that this young, injured and yet to gel team lost those games in a stretch where they played 3 games in 11 days - no time to get healthy. No time to get communication or scheme down the way they should, and with a coaching staff on BOTH sides of the ball still figuring out how to handle various situations.
The team is far too talented to look at this season and say - they arent ready in 24. They havent even hit their strude and are 4-3 and have been in every game they lost.
Its cool to have an opinion, just be careful to not pitch it as universal fact ehen you say things like 'no one' thought the Hawks were a better team...
Sounds like spin in 2022 when some said 'no one' could have predicted that Geno would play well.
