0-2 Pre-season = Eh, who cares?

Outscored 57-3 while going 0-2 in Pre-season = Hmm...

The starters have been getting slapped around even more than the 2nd and 3rd units have. Having your defense get torched by Manning and Osweiler with the officials making pass defense impossible is nothing too surprising, but last year's Raven's run blocking was HISTORICALLY bad and they ran all over SF's 1st team defense a week ago.

Also, their offense stinks. A lot of that is meaningless because their backup QBs are so terrible, but Kaepernick has not looked all that great either.

It's just two games and this is the time of year to work the kinks out. I think SF's offense will be a lot better than this in real games, but I think the cracks in the armor are real defensively, at least until they get Bowman and Smith back.

If SF starts out 3-3 I think Seattle likely has the division in the bag. This could end up being a big deal.

Sigh.

In 2 games the defense has been missing 7 starters including 6 members of the front 7 and then today 5 members of the first 11

I'd like to know exactly when the starters were getting "slapped around" when over a 2 game span more than half of them haven't even played. Lol.

That. "First team defense" that the Ravens ran all over featured no Justin Smith, no Ray McDonald, no Ian Williams (ie no member of the starting D-Line), didn't play Carradine and Dial who are very likely to work into these units because they have played well the past few games, and were also missing 3 of their 4 linebackers.

It's like dropping Earl Thomas, Sherman, and Chancellor and then seeing someone say "wow, they passed all over the Seattle starters". It's simply ludicrous.

More accurately, like dropping Bobby Wagner, Malcolm Smith, Bruce Irvin and Kam Chancellor (who are yet to touch the field in the preseason). Note that you didn't address the offense in any way. Being selective are we?

I'd expect SF's offense to improve but c'mon, 34-0 to pop your new stadium's cherry?

The Colts with Manning used to lose their preseason games each year and go on to win 10 plus regular season games.

Preseason games don't tell you much of anything. .

Was at the game. Some left, but MANY of the fans were walking around the stadium looking for the Seattle fans' brick.

FTFY

Lol. Nice.

The game was sold out and something like 66k showed up (about 2k short of capacity) and many were moving around the stadium checking it all out. Many did leave early tho. It's to be expected in preseason.

Can't they just explore the new stadium using that fancy app from their seat? :)

Bethea went out with a concussion....

And as a Cardinals fan I hang out on this board as well because there is nothing else going on on ours, and the 49ers fans drive me crazy.... The sky is falling over there. Last week you guys were going to have an unstoppable defense and this week you want to put an add in the paper for tryouts.
I'm really starting to like this guy. :)
Ringless? Yeah, he isn't a troll and for a Card fan is pretty classy imho.

Can't wait for Marvin's spin on this, should be a real knee slapper! 8)

Marvin's in full denial and quite frankly the Niners don't have the horses. Baalke is flushing this franchise down the toilet. Other than the Hawks, it could be a down year for the NFC west.. So saad :D

No, what I'm really doing is having a nice hearty laugh at people who draw any conclusions one way or the other from the outcomes of preseason games. You aren't alone BTW...I'm avoiding the webzine till tomorrow because peeps must be losing their minds I don't feel like explaining the preseason concept yet again to the peeps there who don't know what they are watching...at least not yet.

Niners could win the Super Bowl. Niners could go 0-16. Watching the preseason doesn't clue you in to either outcome.
Keep spinning like a top Marvin, you have me convinced....."spin me right round".

If you think saying preseason means nothing is "spin", then that really tells my how much I should value your opinion.

The starters that didn't play didn't play because they are already worn down from the grueling training camp. I guess the NFL banned the use of Geritol.

Are you under the false impression that you're funny?

Nope. I listened to Tim Ryan on the broadcast and he said that the niners are sitting guys because they need the rest and the guys that played actually looked tired. He thinks Harbaugh is gonna take it easier on guys in the coming weeks. Maybe he isn't on the "approved broadcasters" list though. The Geritol part was all mine though.

Come on guys...

Broncos were going all out, running stunts, blitzes, taking hard hard shots at 49er's starters in a pre-season game...

They have played with regular season intensity the first two pre-season games.

The 49ers have been laying back and working out how to play without Bowman, they are trying different combos. et.

When the regular season starts, Hawks and 49ers will be ready to "turn it up" and start chewing down teams.

The Broncos are going to be met with fierce intensity -- and what will they have in the tank? If they keep playing like this in the preseason, by the time they get to the end of the regular season they are going to be physically battered and emotionally drained. They are 1 and done in the playoffs even if they get there.

You can't do this shit, you can't come out balls to the wall intensity in your preseason games when you are an older team heavy with FA's it's stupid, and they will pay for it.

Meanwhile, 49ers and Seahawks will be peaking in the 2nd half of the season.
While I think the ninnies will take a step back this season for various reasons and said that before a pre-season game was played, I think your overall consensus about the donks and Seattle are spot on. You have to admit though watching Marvin and the other denialzoners get their panties in a bunch over preseason ineptness is quite entertaining. 8)

Despite poor reviews of football operations, this was just a soft-opening and they expect to work out all of the kinks before opening day. On a positive note, I heard that more Niner fans were able to connect to the stadium's wi-fi which allowed them to watch more entertaining preseason games using their NFL Preseason Live accounts from the comfort of their empty seats.

Oi

Well, I meant ions those 3 players specifically because they would be. 3/4 of the best unit on your team just as missing 3/4 of the 49ers LBs would.

The starters that are out in Seattle? When did I make any argument that they were anywhere near full strength or make any argument that anything I saw in their loss to Denver meant anything whatsoever. I didn't because it doesn't.

Offense? I'm not being selective. The starting offense is fine. They've played a Total of 3 drives. They probably score a TD on their first one if they don't put Jewel Hampton in for Hyde (Man I hope Hampton gets cut). The score another TD if Brandon Lloyd doesn't lose the ball in the sun. Hyde has looked good. Gore looks good. Despite what peeps will say Kap was looking good checking the ball down to back a few times. Crab and Boldin have only played a few series. Really not to concerned.

Now BACKUP QB is a whole different ball game. Looking ugly right now. Don't like any of them. RB Jewel Hampton isn't much better, but he won't make the team. He's only in because Gore will hardly play at all, Hyde exits quickly, and James dislocated his elbow (tho returned to practice this week ). Man, Hampton is the definition of "running to darkness".

Yes there are the rare cases (72 Giants) where a team storms through the preaseason 4-0 and wins two games but championship team never get slaughtered like that. This was a special day, for the Niners to absolutely embarrass themselves against Denver of all teams is inexcusable. I have already argued with you about your team but one thing is undeniable about your team, it has a depth problem and football is a game of attrition. You guys had better sign Boone now. Getting your asses kicked one week is explainable and I said nothing about this week but two weeks in a row opening up a new stadium???? Oh by the way, Denver was missing Von Miller, Chris Harris and Danny Trevathan.

If I was trying to provide a reenactment of a DenialZoner, but switched the variable from Seahawks to Niners, it would look eerily similar to this.

I'm just sayin..

Maybe we could hook up Marvin with Cinnaspurts? Could be a match made in heaven. Both think their team is going to win the Super Bowl, both are often wrong.

To be honest, I can't stand Tim Ryan, but it's for the opposite reason you think. I don't like him because he's got a case of the John Grudens and thinks every player on the team is the best player ever, Levi's is the best stadium ever and Harbaugh is the best coach ever.

I just wish he would stop taking sometimes.
