I wasn't impressed, but with pass rush DTs you might need to see 8 games to get the full picture on them. They tend to be pretty inconsistent.

Just this year I wasn't very impressed by Richardson, before going back and watching more games. I thought that Liuget looked like crap in 2011, but that was based on just two games, should have looked at more.

Okay, some specifics. First, Easley has DE type size and anchor. Michael Bennett might weigh 276 but he anchors like a 310 pounder. Second, Easley's technique is non-existent. He plays like he's armless. He lunges into a gap, put his shoulders into the chest of the OL, and churns his legs. It's kind of embarrassing to watch. It goes without saying that the guy is a gap guesser and is frequently on the ground. His balance is very poor and competent NFL lineman would dominate him. Some of his plays against Miami were on blown assignments, too.

His situation reminds me a little of Irvin in the sense that the coaches don't seem that interested in coaching him up because even the flawed version is producing at the college level and helping them win. Most college coaches care far more about winning and far less about developing players for the next level.

FWIW, I think TE, WR, and DE will be rated ahead of DT. I think Bennett plays himself into a 2nd contract and McDaniel might too, if he stays healthy. We cut two very promising DTs in Howard/Brooks, which suggests to me that Seattle is very comfortable, maybe a shade cocky, at DT right now.

I agree with kearly's thoughts on Easley. Easley is raw, he just relies on his quickness. He was on the ground way too much for my liking, but again if he were to learn a few pass rush moves maybe that wouldn't happen so often. Quickness & speed can't be taught, so he has the tools and upside to be a very disruptive player at the next level. I don't think he would be successful in a two-gap scheme, it didn't look like he was good at stacking and shedding o-lineman.

One player that was mentioned on here a while back that I like is Minnesota DT Ra'shede Hageman. I scouted him when he played UNLV this year and he looks like a top-15 type player. Hageman combination of size (6-6 311 lbs.), quickness, strength, and length is the prototype that Carroll & Schneider seem to like. He actually plays with good leverage despite his height, and he is a very powerful player. If he were available late in the 1st round I think he would be our guy.

Here is a quick interview about him,

Out for the year. We might be able to steal him in the 4-5th round now.
