Do we need to worry about Charles Cross?

Charles had a tough game last Thursday, at time almost Ifeldish with the offsides and holding. Time to worry or too early for that? Could anyone knows the game analyze what led to his problems in this game?

My main worry about Cross is that he stay healthy because he is about all we have at the L tackle spot. I'd hate to see Lock get a shot in the back every other play.

That was Abe Lucas, not Cross and Malik Willis was a massive project that does not look like an NFL caliber passer right now.

As for Cross, he's gotten a lot of penalties but he hasn't given up hardly any pressures. He's very solid in pass pro, much better than Ifedi ever was.

All draft picks are “sunk costs”. He had 1 holding call and a bunch of offsides. The offsides are irrelevant as hell get those ironed out. He had none in the first game.

I'd be far more concerned if he was piling up holding penalties, which would indicate he was overmatched or routinely beaten. He appears more than capable physically ... the mental game (and the false starts) should be pretty easy to clean up.

Cross will be fine. I still think Lucas will end up being the better player (like best-right-tackle-in-the-league territory), but there's no reason why Cross can't be a solid starter. He just got jittery from lining up across from Quinn.

Let's hope he get these glitches out in the preseason.

Massive overreaction. He also had an incredible game against Pittsburgh. He's a rookie, how about we not hang the dude after 1 rough learning experience in the preseason.

And you definitely shouldn’t compare his performance with one of the worst offensive lineman Seattle had in all of two games the man has played.

According to Carroll's press conference, Cross did not know who Robert Quinn was before the game, so it is not like he was intimidated. It was pretty much just baptism by fire. Quinn has been one of the premier pass rushers for almost every healthy season he has been in the league. Cross simply had his welcome to the NFL moments in game 2 instead of game 1. He will learn from it and get better.

Handled him pretty well, too. Even when getting beat, he held moderately and with discretion, and kept the quarterback clean by doing so.
