Once the Seahawks got the big lead, they played a soft zone, which will give tight ends an advantage. The Seahawks play a lot of zone anyway, which benefits TEs who can find the soft spots and exploit mismatches in size.

An article last week in Sharp Football said that the Seahawks play zone 81.4 percent of the time, which is one of the highest in the league. In contrast to teams like the Ravens, Lions and Broncos, who use more man coverage:

While it is a noble goal to shut the oppositions offense down entirely - it is only becoming more and more difficult to do in today's NFL.

So is it a matter of picking your poison? A TE is rarely going to win a game outright - whereas as RB or WR can - to a greater extent - take the whole team on their shoulders and generate a win.
