My first childhood sports hero. I wrote to him c/o the team (found the address in the back of an issue of Football Digest) and he sent this pic back. That's the original frame I bought for it with allowance money. It musta been 1977 or 78 or so.

As I've mentioned many, many times here, one of the greatest sports-fan moments of my life was getting to tell Zorn to his face in September of 1984 that I had had his autographed picture framed on my wall in Kennebunk, Maine for years.

I also got a guy down here to make a couple of Zorn mugs for me.

I’m guessing to no one’s surprise is that Jim Zorn was the first Seahawk to wear #10. He was undrafted out of Cal Poly in 1975. He originally signed with the Cowboys.

This picture is a little preview of what the throwback game against TB in October will look like. Minus these particular players.

The first Seahawk to wear #8 was punter Jeff West. He was originally a 1975 5th round pick by Cincinnati. He played for the Seahawks from 1981-1985. 1985 was his last year in the NFL.
Over ten seasons in the NFL, he punted 621 times for 23,641 yards and a 38.1 average. He appeared in 7 playoff games punting 37 times for a 37.7 average. He currently ranks fifth in Seahawks franchise history for punting yardage.

The first Seahawk to wear #7 was QB Gale Gilbert. He was a 1985 undrafted free agent out of California. He was a Seahawk from 1985-1987.
Gilbert played in the NFL for the Seahawks , Bills and Chargers. He is the only player in NFL history to be on five consecutive Super Bowl teams, none of which won.

I thought Kitna was destined to be our version of Kurt Warner. He exceeded expectations, playing in 14 seasons across 16 years, earning 2003 Comeback Player of the Year and stats that dwarf many NFL vet QB's:

Being a fellow alumni of CWU with Kitna, I agree with this!

First player to wear #6 for the Seahawks was punter Frank Garcia. He punted in one game in 1981 and had two punts. Consequently I could find no images of him in a Seahawks #6. He was undrafted out of Arizona State in 1979 and ended up bouncing around the league until 1987.

Here is an image of him.
