As the long time childhood friend of a retired Seattle Mariner that CONSTANTLY spoke of avoiding situations that could be exploited (and somehow did) I will never understand the guys who take the risk KNOWING it can just start snowballing.

I suspect he'll still get the big payday, but there will be behavior clauses that give the lambs a way to cut him loose. It could also affect the structure a bit - you don't want to give him a ton of money upfront in a signing bonus in that case, you want a roster bonus each year to protect the team.

Yep, the Rams' FO will absolutely protect themselves and I don't blame them one bit.

yeah.... there was the one time we decided to lay a stepladder on its side and covered the steps with plywood... I can totally see the similarity in the two situations. Whew, I am glad I never owned a van.
