College Football has ruined some people as NFL fans

The huge emphasis on winning by dozens if a team is going to be highly ranked has somehow influenced people to think that NFL outcomes should be the same if a team is going to be legitimate. I have one thing to say in rebuttal to such thinking: There are no rankings that matter one wit in the NFL. A win is a win. A team's performance one week has little to do with the final outcome. The Seahawks played poorly tonight, and still won easily.

This is what happens when we get alot of new fans that understand little about the NFL.

If I have to read one more BLUE MONDAY facebook fan newbie griping about our 10 point win on the road on the East Coast I am going to go postal.

We had a lot of ugly ugly wins last year mostly caused by an awful O-line and dumb penalties. We seem to have the same problems this year but this team is still really really good.

Saw the same things last year during close wins over average and bad teams. Very little perspective around here unless we're blowing out teams by 20+.

This is the NFL. When you have completely one-sided officiating on the road and still win by 10, you've done a lot of things right. Every team has its issues. I enjoy Ws.

the not as good as "last years posts" are absolutely stupid.

amnesia I guess.

I remember Carolina, St. Louis, Tampa, Tennesse, Houston, Arizona, SF, Indy, etc.

Seahawks DOMINATED this game, but solppy play kept it close. Only played twice in 31 days.

Thank you.

A W is a W and stats mean eff-all. Just win and stay healthy if possible, that's all I care about. And try not to give the refs any excuses to flag us to death I mean holy mother of god...we already got rid of Breno and McQuistan and this is still happening?

Fans that care enough to post on a hawk message board should have enough knowledge about the game to understand these things.

Our fanbase is embarrassing sometimes.

A win is a win, sure, but even seasoned fans have to think we should have had that game put away easily by halftime. We missed a ton of opportunities, shot ourselves in the foot too many times, and had the refs account for at least a couple of scores on phantom or blown calls.

Saying this game should have been a blowout is not overreacting and thinking like a college or fantasy football fan. Of course, what do I know? I've only been watching since 1976.

There is a benefit to winning this way that does tend to come in handy around playoff time.

Tested.

I have seen the light. Thank you for the insight. I mistakenly thought that the mediocre Giants smoking the Redskins on the road last week by five scores would give the Seahawks a chance to be ahead by more than one score well into the 4th quarter. :)

I have seen the error of my ways, and I repent.

I agree fully, much more so than college football.

Yes, because that's how the NFL works right?

The transitive property is quite the accurate predictor of how every game will go.

I doubt it.

I have seen the Seahawks play better football in a loss, but a win is a win.

That said, that was the worst football I have seen the Seahawks play in several years. It was bad. It could have been worse but for the fact that the Redskins are not a great team and they apparently drop the ball repeatedly even when open.

The Seahawks won, but they didn't look good at all.

I am really hoping that is just the product of a bye but that was a ridiculous amount of penalties and dropped balls for a team that supposedly had over a week and half to prepare for the game.

pro tip football fans:

win by 1 pt on the road is all that matters. Do this 4-6 times and take care of business at home and you'll have a good season, every time.

seahawks win half their remaining road games and go undefeated at home, they will have a 12-4 record and likely be the 1 seed.

I watched the Patriots get smoked by the Chiefs on national television. And then that same Patriots team smoked the Bengals the next week ...on national television.

One week doesn't tell the story on a team. That being said, the Redskins are legit bad and Seattle would've destroyed them by 3 scores if not for terrible officiating.

apparently everyone all upset doesnt' remember that last year we had to win close ugly games against

the rams
the texans
the titans
the bucs
the panthers

four of those teams didn't even catch a whiff of playoff hopes.

and still won the superbowl. Tonight we put up more offense and points than any of those games and won.

everyone freak out though.

We're becoming experts at explaining away sub-par performances.

Heat, now officiating.

no, good points - we won a game tonight by two scores on the road because we are a bad football team. You're right, everyone else is wrong. The only explanation is that the Seahawks are just not a good football team.
