The problem has always been fans unrealistic expectations. They have little nuance.
We have 2 more wins than I expected. That’s good coaching imo.
You're conflating great QB play with good coaching. McVay outclassed Pete. Have them switch sidelines and McVay wins comfortably. The same issues persist. Pete wants to run the ball and play great defense. That is what he emphasizes, not getting bailed out by great QB play.
Geno's great season is looking like it's going to be wasted.
When was the last time Seattle ran the ball and played great defense consistently for a season? 2014? 2015? That was a long-time ago.
Many on here, (I'm not sure if you do as well, just making a broader point.) seem to just go with the immediate results.
Pete wins, regardless of what has transpired = good coaching. Pete loses, regardless of what has transpired = bad coaching. Results based.
Process based and body of work approach. You cannot spin or damage control how bad the defense looked against the Rams JV offense.
Geno heroics, doesn't = good coaching. But it provides a smoke screen screen, for the same failed process to continue.
This defense is going nowhere with Hurtt in charge. And Pete's internal hires at DC continue to fail, one after another, but it's never Pete's fault for some reason. Richard, Norton, now Hurtt.
Imagine Holmgren flailing away on offense for years, how would that go?
The Seahawks are gonna break their franchise record for yards given up, which they set last year under, Norton!
It just continues to get worse no matter how much talent JS adds or draft picks they throw at it.
