With the gigantic Sherman win today, the CB situation just got a whole lot better for the playoffs.

Assuming the Packers and Niners take care of business, we'll be playing on the road at either Washington or Dallas in the Wild Card round next week. In that case, does Browner come back and start right away? Does he play a lesser role? Split time? Ease him in a bit? Not play at all?

I'd like to see something like this:

RCB: Sherm, obviously
LCB: WT3 (hoping he's healthy)/Browner splitting time
Slot: Lane/Maxwell

This way both Browner and WT3 are eased back into the game after being hurt/suspended. The last thing we need is for Browner to come back too fast and pull a hammy. Not to mention, WT3 and Browner have two completely different skillsets and they could be maximized based on which situations both are played.

More than likely it would be Browner/Lane on the outside with Thurmond/Maxwell in the slot. Pete has said numerous times that Thurmond is a slot corner that can play outside....they much prefer him inside and Lane outside. The way Lane has been playing outside will be a huge boost

I'd like to put WT3 in the slot, they moved him inside while moving Sherman outside for some reason, even though Lane's play really has been good lately and he deserves more. The only thing I see in limbo is is Browner can play his way back onto the field..... If WT3 gets the start there, then he is officially depth, as he's probably a little big to play the slot.

I'm sorry to say I'm almost done with Thurmond. He just is not staying healthy. Jeremy Lane could be just as good.

LCB = Sherman. RCB = Browner... Possible rotation depending on Browners' first series - but I'd suspect that unless we are seriously challenged on the outside, Browner plays all snaps. It's the slot that killed us last time - and Trufant will not be playing - love the fact we have 2-3 more guys that can play that Nickel / Dime role - we don't have to depend on a safety coming down or a LB covering a slot receiver. NICE.

Lane is the third best corner the hawks have and Browner won't be eased in.

Lane should play the slot, Browner and Sherman outside.

Im done with Thurmond and REALLY done with Trufant.

People said the same thing about Okung. There is a reason Thurmond is still on the team. If he wasn't good I think Pete and John would have shown him the door by now.

I'm not assuming anything either way. Pete has indicated the young guys need to see the field because they've shown they can play. BB will not have played or practiced for four games. Working out isn't the same as practice. He may be a bit rusty at first.

Whatever they end up doing, I trust Pete and the staff to make the right decision, especially where the defensive backfield is concerned.

Bandit package looks good in 4 wide out sets with our current guys if we choose to throw that at defense now.

change nothing... Browner and Sherman on the outside, lane/thurmond in the slot.. no need to fix things that aren't broke. if browner struggles then make some changes..

Not that anyone will admit to it. They all knew he'd be a Pro-Bowler some day. I still like Thurmond, and am hoping he can come back and play well for the Playoffs. We are a better team with a healthy Thurmond able to take snaps in the slot or on the outside.
