Now that we have had the Combine and we have a better idea of what the roster looks like, I want to dive into a mock draft. But, let's look at the current state of the team.
  • QB
    • Geno Smith -- Backup: Sam Howell
  • RB
    • Ken Walker III-- Backup: Zach Charbonnet, Kenny McIntosh
  • WR
    • X: DK Metcalf -- Backup: Jake Bobo
    • Z: Tyler Lockett -- Backup: Dee Eskridge
    • Slot: Jaxon Smith-Njigba -- Backup: Dareke Young
  • TE
    • Noah Fant -- Backup: Pharaoh Brown: Backup
  • OL
    • LT: Charles Cross -- Backup: George Fant, Stone Forsythe
    • LG: ?
    • C: Olu Olu, -- Backup: Nick Harris
    • RG: Anthony Bradford -- Backup: McClendon Curtis
    • RT: Abe Lucas -- Backup: George Fant, Stone Forsythe
  • DL
    • Edge:Uchenna Nwosu -- Backup: Derick Hall
    • 3T: Leonard Williams -- Backup: Myles Adams
    • NT: Jarran Reed -- Backup: Cam Young
    • 5T: Dre'mont Jones -- Backup: Mike Morris
    • Edge: Boye Mafe -- Backup: Darrell Taylor
  • LB
    • MIKE: Tyrel Dodson -- Backup: ?
    • WILL: Jerome Baker -- Backup: Jon Rhattigan
  • DB
    • LCB: Devon Witherspoon -- Backup Mike Jackson
    • FS: Julien Love -- Backup Jarrick Reed
    • SS: Rayshawn Jenkins -- Backup Coby Bryant
    • RCB: Riq Woolen -- Backup Tre Brown
    • NCB:Artie Burns -- Backup Coby Bryant (Witherspoon plays here a lot too)
  • ST
    • K: Jason Meyer
    • P: Michael Dickson
    • LS: Chris Stoll
Now on to my Mock 2.0. I know people will harp on needs, positional values, and the trenches. I could have dug more into the OLine but I didn't because they invested in George Fant and Nick Harris to be backups. They need help with Guards but Bradford was a 3rd round pick just a year ago. The DLine has some good options in the 2nd-3rd rounds but none in the late rounds. I chose to bypass it entirely because the team has poured the most resources and money in that position group. Mike Morris and Cam Young are probably better than any late round players. This is already really long so I decided not to include clips except for Jalen Coker. I think he needs more attention.
  • 1st Round: (GB's #25): GB gets the #16 (1st) and #118 (4th) and SEA gets #25 (1st) and #58 (2nd).
    • Selection: Cooper DeJean: CB/SAF/NCB: 6'0, 203 lbs, 31' arms: He didn't test at the Combine but he's one of the best athletes in this draft. I am not super anal about needs if the player I like is available. I'm into talent and dudes on offense or defense. DeJean is a dude with the ball in his hands. I don't think he's a full time outside CB. I like him everywhere, especially in the nickle or safety is where I see him as a game wrecker. Artie Burns is the current nickle starter but DeJean would be an upgrade. Or he can take over for one of the safeties (Love or Jenkins). He is dangerous as a punt/kick returner. People will hate it. People will say it's an overdraft. I love it. He's unique. Mac will love his versatility.
  • 2nd Round: (GB's #58)
    • Selection: Zak Zinter: G: 6'6, 309 lbs, 33.5' arms. He didn't test in the Combine. Great size up front. He's super smart and understands the offense. He never quits on a play and wants to hit someone in the face. He rarely gives up hurries and barely allowed QB hits. Great mover in space and is able to pull and move. The best thing about him and is when he strikes you, you feel it. When he locks on, you go nowhere. Great technician. The big-ass fundamental (so we don't get into trouble wih Tim Duncan). Great run blocker and good pass protector. Fits Grubb to a tee.
  • 3rd Round: (Native #81)
    • Selection: Trevin Wallace: LB: 6'1, 237 lbs, 32'+ arms, 4.51 (40 yard dash), 37.5 (vertical). This dude is explosive and can move. I hope he is still there in the 3rd. One of the best movers in the draft for a LB. He doesn't have the best college production but he fits a WILL linebacker to a tee. Mac will love this guy and his fluid movement skills. He doesn't miss too many tackles. The run game is still his biggest weakness. Coverage skills are a strength. I think Mac and crew coaches him up. Groom him for a WILL and hopefully a MIKE later in his career. He just turned 21 years old. Let him develop under Dodson and Baker with the idea he takes over for one eventually.
  • 4th Round: (WASH's #102)
    • Selection: Mo Kamara: Edge: 6'1, 248 lbs, 32' arms, 4.57 (40 yard dash), 34.5 (vertical), 1.58 (10 yard split). Kamara has short arms but he is one of the most natural rushers in this draft. He is top 3 in bend among the edges. Student of the game and a strong character guy. Right now, he is a pass rush specialist but he's a darn good rusher. I much rather have him over Darrell Taylor -- who hasn't shown the production. The team can cut/trade Taylor with very little dead money attached to him. Let him loose during obvious passing downs and I think he will go wild. He has to fit that specific role right now. He's explosive and unique.
  • 6th Round: (WASH's #179)
    • Selection: Devin Culp: TE: 6'3, 231 lbs, near 33' arms, 4.47 (40 yard dash). Local product. At this point, I like taking supreme athletes that have fallen. Culp actually rated pretty well as a blocker at UW even though he was undersized. I think he can pack on some pounds and develop nicely as a TE 3 or TE 2. Worth a shot with his speed at the position.
  • 6th Round: (Native #192)
    • Selection: Jordan Magee: LB: 6'1, 228 lbs, 32' arms, 4.55 (40 yard dash), 35.5 (vertical). Another great athlete late in this late round. Both Baker and Dodson are on 1-year deals. I'm double-dipping with the LBs. He is very versatile. Fast at the Combine but can play a little slower on the field. Sort of similar to Wallace. Get him in and let Mac and crew coach him up. He can fill lanes and cover. Temple didn't fully utilize him to the best capacity. He's super under the radar.
  • 7th Round: (Native #232)
    • Selection: Elijah Jones: CB (Boston College): 6'2, 180 lbs, 4.44 (40 yard dash), 42.5 (vertical). Talll, lanky, ok speed. He shows a lot of effort in the run game. Solid CB prospect. Tre Brown is a FA after the 2024 season and you can always use another aggressive CB in the fold. He is pretty grabby. He reminds me of Jeremy Lane.
  • UDFA:
    • Signing: Jalen Coker: WR (Holy Cross): 6'1, 208 lbs, 4.57 (40 yard dash), 42.5 (vertical). He's super explosive. He may not have the deep speed but I like this kid. He's a great route runner and explodes off his breaks. Super deceptive at the stem of the route. He can rise above you and run through you. He's an explosive Jermaine Kearse to me. Sort of reminds me of former Cowboys WR Miles Austin. You might need to draft him to make sure he's on the team.

Pretty solid - I especially like the first pick, but this would be solid

I think if we trade back and get a second and penix is hanging around it may be him - but maybe we just roll with Geno/sam and see what’s up - but a Sam/penix insurance policy for next season may be mo bettah - save a good chunk of money making Geno a post June cut next year

I think it's a lot closer than most national folks think. Alt probably has a much higher ceiling. Fautanu might have the better rookie season though.
I agree. I have a guy on the Bears forum who wants Alt at #9. I said if he wants a tackle, trade down and take Fautana. Better use of the draft pick.

Great Job Mate!
I really like your Mock but man i dont know if i would be happy with CB in Round 1.
Don’t think of DeJean as just a CB he is also a safety and explosive KR. DeJean is good at what MM wants to do defenisively I could also see him getting some LB snaps during nickel and dime packages

I'm out on DeJean as a 1st rounder now. This was my mock awhile back. I just don't see a game-changer. I don't see a CB at all.
