"We finished practice, and after practice I went right to you guys to talk to the media about what I had seen. But he went back to his locker and said he didn't feel like he could go. That's it. He just didn't feel like he had it. It wasn't enough time to build the confidence he needed to come here and do something. So, that's it," Carroll said.

"We'll wait and see [on Marshawn's recovery from hernia surgery] and take it one day at a time."

So it was a confidence thing? One of the things his MMA trainer has been working with him on... Seems to me the MMA trainer then failed him

No, it's just a question of time. Recovery from hernia surgery generally takes 4-6 weeks. Marshawn and the team were aiming for four weeks, and it just wasn't enough time to get him back under the circumstances. Pretty simple, really.

This isn't really a defense so much as a coach-speak restatement of what's already been reported. Team found out very late on Friday that he wasn't playing. Obviously, Lynch may have all the right reasons for pulling himself on Friday. But these statements contain no new information and really shed no new light on what happened.

Yeah, and MMA shape and football shape are two very different things. They need to prep as if he's not going to play, and if he can, great. But we can't get burned again with a last minute no-go after a full week of #1 reps.

So what?
We've won with him. We've won without him.
I'm not going to take his decision as a personal affront.

It actually explains quite well why (1) the team listed Marshawn as "questionable" on the injury report, (2) why Carroll did not rule Marshawn out during his Friday Press Conference, and (3) why Marshawn made the decision after practice that he was not ready to play.

May the drama queens rest now. Not you, but anyone else trying to stir up crap about a player's recovery from a serious injury.

Coaching maneuver. Pc knew lynch wasn't going to play. Said he was. Vikings prepare for lunch game plan. Lynch can't go last minute. Not pc fault. Lynch just felt bad.

I recently had one too. Not the same as ML's though and I am not an example of a highly tuned precision athlete. However, I was told to not lift anything heavier than a milk jug for 6 weeks. I felt great in less than two weeks and the incision was completely healed. However, the idea was that it would take 6 weeks to get to about 90% of the total recovery level in the core area.

How this week plays out with him is going to be interesting to see. Guessing Pete won't be as positive about his chances to play. Of course it won't be below zero in Charlotte either so maybe he'll feel better?

I'm also assuming you weren't expecting world class athletes to launch their bodies at you. Some people forget that aspect of the recovery process. Not aiming this at you.

Correct. I'm just kind of saying (as I think you are) that it seems that it would have been very remarkable for ML to play this weekend. Would have been very much on the short end of anybody's possible recovery schedule.

Like I have said before, some people are really cruel. A guy says he can't go. Why do you question his manhood ? Would you rather have had a 50% player out there, just to please your eyes?
I like ML honesty. Instead of saying he can go and force us to cut one player, just to watch him play 3 snaps (see J.J. Watt on Saturday), I rather have an honest guy tell it like it is.
Did you see J.J. Watt let down his team? Did you want M.L. do the same?
