Lynch only had 8 carries last game? I can't believe it was in the game plan. I was frustrated the entire game and the lack of Beast. He's the fuel that gets our team going. When he runs hard, it's contagious and for them to dismiss him, I'm scratching my head to figure out why.

Was put it bad situations most of the night against 8 or 9 men in the box, which hurts the chances of a run play being successful so they didn't like their chances. Other bad situations like when Marshawn got a 17 yrd run early in the game, it was called back due to penalty. Other times it was option plays in which Wilson felt better about keeping it than handing it off to Lynch like during the 2nd down on the goal line after he had a designed keeper on 1st down. A common saying in sports is "You take what the defense gives you" and during the time, they just felt their chances of winning were better with certain plays and sometimes Lynch was just not involved. But to basically answer your question with a brief sentence, they were just put in bad situations where it's hard to justify using Lynch because of the situation since they believe their chances of succeeding were better with another play or decesion.

Extremely poor execution by our "blockers", a LOT of missed assignments. Not the kind of thing that you would expect from a line that has played 6 games together.

We have become too predictable too many times, three and out hiccups are killing our ground game.

To paraphrase .NET over the past 5days:

To some: "It's complexicated."

To others: "It's Bevell's fault."

This has been discussed all week and no one seems to have any real ideers rather than blaming someone else.

Pete Carroll looked dumb founded why Lynch only ran the ball 8 times, when asked at his press conference, so one can only assume it has some to do with Bevell even if we only ran 38 offensive plays. I'm not one to believe that things just happen for no reason. It's both complicated and Bevell.

I don't think its that hard, STL sold out on stopping the run and getting pressure quick. They put 8 in the box and dared us to throw it against them. Outside of one play by Golden Tate we failed miserably.

Well... Let's face facts... Bevell screwed the pooch this game. How do you not gameplan to get Lynch, at least, 20 carries against a team with one of the worst rush defenses in the league when you have an offensive line that's clearly had issues with pass protection. To me... It seems Bevell is relying waaayyy too much on big plays and the vertical passing game vs. calling plays to sustain drives. Of course... This has always been one of my issues with Bevell. It's the Homerun-checkdown philosophy and it often ignores the short to intermediate passing game because the plays have Wilson looking downfield, downfield, downfield and by the time he gets to checkdown, the checkdown is already picked up and the play is busted at that point. Not that it matters anymore this year, but the 10-15 yard in route was Sidney Rice's bread and butter route, and we hardly used it.

How much blame do we put on Tom Cable? Has he been at the top of "his game"?

We are stuck with who we have and that is basically it. Cable cannot coach skill into a human that does not posses skill.

He can provide the best info he can, then it is up to that player. The good news for us is the opponents we will be playing don't have the sick defensive fronts we have been facing.

“That’s the cool thing about the NFL,’’ he said. “You have what you have, so you’ve got to find your way to make it work.’’

We only ran 40 plays. We weren't quite as far off our normal pace as 8 carries looks.

It seems to me that when Lynch is getting stopped like he was, it would be a good idea to throw in Turbin or Michael to mix things up a bit. See if they can get better penetration and shake up the D a little.

So. Fewer carries for Lynch, then?

The first few runs weren't successful so Bevell gave up on them rather than allowing the beast to build up some rhythm and a head of steam.
'Shawn psychs himself up... someone needs to clue Bevell in to this. Don't give up after 4 or 5 rushes.

Every time he carried he got swallowed up.

You can't just keep running every down for 2 yards.

No, no, no. With STL stacking the use (even overuse) of Lynch does the NECESSARY, it punishes their D. By 2nd half your passing game opens.
Nothing more than poor game-planning and poor use of such RB.
