It would be a negative for the Seahawks, but well deserved for Schottenheimer. He's done enough as a coordinator to earn a look at the top job.

Losing Schottenheimer isn't going to change our offense. It's going to be the same old, tired offense.

Schottenheimer has grown RW as a passer incredibly since he's been here. You're being silly if you can't see that.

It would be a setback if Shotty is gone next season.

Imagine its 2017. Darrell Bevell is the offensive coordinator, Tom Cable the OL coach. The offense is historically bad, running game worst of all time, and Russell Wilson is somehow treading water with multiple cinderblocks tied to his arms and legs.

A man from the future travels back in time to tell you about the Seahawks. Says he's from 2020. Briefly says that you wouldn't BELIEVE the year 2020 has been, but says thats for another time and talks about the Seahawks. He describes a new offensive coordinator, and how he came in and oversaw a complete shift in offensive philosophy. The offense now runs through Russ, they pass on early downs often, drafted a generational wide receiver, and Russell from 2018-2020 is the best he's ever been. You immediately cry tears of joy and fall to your knees in jubilation.

The time traveler then says "but yeah, screw that offensive coordinator. we want him fired."

You'd laugh at the time traveler until he decided to go back to his time.

I am unable to determine the amount of freedom Shotty has as an OC to know if his leaving changes much.

I was against him being hired and I believe he has done better than I expected.

If he’s PCs puppet then the OC does not matter as much and a change won’t change much. If he has had the freedom I think he has been above average.

Really don't want another DC / OC change, well DC if it is Quinn but other then that getting things clicking and us healthier and seeing things start to click and then have a guy leave again.

Only reasonably answer anyone outside of the building can give. Could end being great, neutral, or bad depending who replaces him

Schotty improved some of RW’s mechanics, absolutely. But let’s not get carried away. Russ elevates Schotty more than Schotty elevates Russ. I do think he is as good as Pete will go for however. So part of me doesn’t want to lose him.

Hate to lose Schotty... but when a guy has success with one of the best organizations in the NFL it's bound to happen...

Good luck Schotty!!!!

Please Lord no.

Anyplace but Houston.

I already get enough crap from Cowboy and Texan fans.

If he ends up failing in Houston, it will be all my fault.

What scares me if this happens is that he embraced the "let Russ cook" mentality and opened up the passing game. What if Pete finds a replacement that loves the "run the ball and play" D mentality?
I would have to think if Bienemy wants the job, he would be the preferred candidate over Shottenheimer though
