Why don’t you put Mike McDonald in the coach of the year conversation?
MM is definitely in the conversation at present for coach of the year, along with the Indy and Pats coach. I've heard two voters for the award mention him as such.

Daboll having players becoming great after the Giants and the losses. I don't believe Russ, cheap as he came, mattered all that much. Russ will play for the Redskins next. They collect old players.

Macdonald is deserving, but his problem is that the team won ten games last year, so at the moment, it looks like the Pats or Colts have made a bigger "turnaround". He probably needs to go 13-4 and win the division at worst (or he risks losing it to McVay, who I've seen get mentioned too), with those two teams falling back at least somewhat.

Schneider getting the exec award is more likely the way things stand right now IMO.

I suspect there's a guy on the Seahawks, they will be looking at.

Daboll isn't a good coach. If he was, he would have gotten more out of Daniel Jones.

That's literally what coaches are supposed to do.

Just look at what Steichen is doing with the Colts.

Daboll's problems are myriad. One he is losing and a lot. Two see number one. Three he cant seem to put a team together.

I think the last straw was probably in an effort to save his job he kept running Jaxson Dart like a RB and now has him concussed. I know this wasn't all Daboll - some of it is Dart's nature - but a coach has to temper that instinct in some players and Daboll failed miserably at that with Dart.

Also the whole running into the concussion tent while dart was in there was a TERRIBLE look for the Giants. He will be a fine OC somewhere for sure.
Yeah instead of protecting Dart, Dabol let him get hurt to try to salvage what was left of his job

Do you think Pete is still getting any credit for what this hawks team is?

TBF Dart did say he was not going to change how he plays, so we can't
blame the HC for that.

Dart being so highly mobile did get them the wins they have, and always gives them a punchers chance, and as @IndyHawk just said, dart just said he didn’t intend to change his playing style. Dart was picked for being aggressively mobile, so obviously coaches will play to that. Mike Kafka will likely use him similarly. I haven’t yet heard anyone suggest this was a locker room issue. To me, it didn’t even register as a huge fan issue.

I don’t see this firing leading to more wins, whereas I believe the Raiders would get more under Antonio Pierce, who has already come in as an interim and won games.

Why would Shanahan be in the list for coach of the year?

Who else gets so much out of a team with so many missing starters?

Granted, they are about to fall off a cliff, but if they somehow, miraculously don’t, I have to think he’s in the convo

He certainly deserves some. He hasn't been involved in the past two offseasons though, so whatever influence he had really shouldn't factor any into the Exec award.

Dabbol lost a lot of talent to injury. There was a lot of excitement with Malik Nabors and Cam Scattebo (i don't care enough about the Giants to check spelling...sorry, not sorry) and Dart. There's no excitement in NY now. Something had to change to satisfy season ticket holders. I feel like he deserved some time with the young talent he picked. Oh well.... Josh Allen could use a consultant these days so Daboll could go to Buffalo in some capacity to salvage that roller coaster.

lol some of you guys are so obsessed with Wilson. Some of it is trolling and some of it is just odd.

Daboll got fired because they keep losing games and he struggles controlling his emotions.
The dude is just not a good leader. Has zero to do with Russ. I remember seeing a post game presser of his after their season was ended in his first year as coach and the way he came across was 100% arrogant and tone deaf in how he spoke about his players - the anti MM. The spotlight was on him and the team for how well they played that year, and you could tell he enjoyed playing the role of the 'Big-Cat'. Not good. There is something to be said for emotional intelligence in leadership. Daboll, from what i have seen, has none. Xs and Os and a hard-ass persona can get you but so far. If you dont know how to effectively criticize, praise, and build belief among the men you are leading, you end up like he has. Its the way the vast majority of coaches end.

Makes me that much more thankful for JS and MM.

Well, it's happened. I was listening to a New York sports radio show in the car, and Klint Kubiak's name came up a lot in the conversation about who would replace Daboll. So obviously, he's on the radar already.

The other name that came up a lot was Kliff Kingsbury. So I guess they're going to go with someone with the initials KK. Btw, I think that the only time you spell Cliff or Clint with a "K" is when your last name begins with K.
