Well you could say that, Wislon replaced by Dart after not so great W - L performance doing t5he Wilson thing, good stats but lousy results as a team, Dart gets hurt, Wilson loses game when they have a lead. Not as direct as he has done in the past but still he is involved.

Speaking of the Dolphins, I believe the next in line to get axed is Mike McDaniel. He got lucky this week as the Bills decided to hit South Beach instead of focusing on winning their game in Miami.

There is no credentialed source stating that Daboll was fired over Russ that I’ve yet seen. Daboll chose to start Dart. Dart has developed under him. Dart’s aggressive style meant two trips to the concussion tent before Sunday, when it was real. Russ’ entry in this circumstance was predictable. The caliber of his play was exactly what the giants as an organization should have expected. Sunk cost is a thing and Daboll had to deal with 8.5 mil of it off a gm negotiated contract. I don’t feel like Daboll was the bad guy or that anyone was.

The interim hc is Mike Katka who has himself opined about how valuable Russ is. The comment is in the big Russ thread. So while it’s fun to speculate about Russ killing another coach, I seriously doubt keeping Russ as qb2 is why Daboll got fired.

I still don’t think Daboll had loyalty to Russ. It has always seemed to me that Daboll was told to accept him.

I doubt anyone actually thinks Russ got Daboll fired. I assumed those comments were tongue in cheek. It does give Russ a more convenient scapegoat than usual though, when his fourth team in the past five years decides they want nothing more to do with him.

Daboll becomes the latest former Coach of the Year winner to make the award look like a joke. The voters really need to consider anything other than preseason expectations when awarding it. Right now, Vrabel is probably the favorite to nab his second, although Steichen is right in that mix too.

McDaniel is a dead man in the offseason, but they seem pretty set on letting him finish the year. I think if anyone doesn't make it to week 18, it's more likely Stefanski, Gannon, or Raheem Morris.

Daboll's failure started before Russ got there, but given Russ was supposed to be the guy to salvage Daboll and then proved that the string of failures of other QB's that were there under his leadership also failed or got so beat up they could not play could be attributed to the guy running the show. Especially since some of those guys are having success elsewhere now ( Colts, Colts). Team blowing the lead and Wilson coming in and not able to really move the team or nit being trusted to do so was not a good case for him going forward. Kafka's choice or ownerships I think more will be telling this coming weekend.

Morris is a good shout and the most obvious. Forgot about him and Penix confidence looks shot. I still think Pete does if he doesn't turn it around. Raiders aren't exactly known for patience no matter how bad they are. 2-7 record is pretty bad

Daboll's problems are myriad. One he is losing and a lot. Two see number one. Three he cant seem to put a team together.

I think the last straw was probably in an effort to save his job he kept running Jaxson Dart like a RB and now has him concussed. I know this wasn't all Daboll - some of it is Dart's nature - but a coach has to temper that instinct in some players and Daboll failed miserably at that with Dart.

Also the whole running into the concussion tent while dart was in there was a TERRIBLE look for the Giants. He will be a fine OC somewhere for sure.
