assuming this season goes like many of us fear it will, I'd say this defense needs to start showing signs of coming together probably by midway through next season. If things are still a hot mess by then, the alarm bells will really start going off.

Mike won't be given that long unless they show signs they are going in the correct direction. Games like last week are bad signs. We must see development. We won 9 games last year. No reason for this team to take a step back.

Could we try to move that up by at least a year... maybe two?

I think we'll recover to .500 this year and be better in year two and three in which we could be in the mix, as long as we stop having multiple weeks of floundering discipline and run the ball A LOT more.

I noticed that too. This is Minter's first time as an NFL DC, he spent the last few years in college, yet his defense doesn't seem to be going through any "growing pains". I envy that.

I think most fans just wanted to see progress as the season went on. I think that's fair to assume that, I heard that probably most frequently. Not sure we are actually seeing that though halfway into the season. I get the need for time, it's the progress part that's looking bleak.

Two different teams with talent differences though. No guarantee they would have the same results here. Pete Carroll was a great coach and couldn’t figure it out here either with many of the same pieces

Who are all these super-human defensive players the Chargers have who are SO much more talented than what we have?

I don’t know I haven’t studied them but it’s an entirely different team that could have different issues that affected them last year. Did they have a ton of injuries last year? Add anyone this year? I think it’s fair to ask.

I’ll make this point again. A lot of the people saying Macdonald is a massive failure are the same people who said Seattle was crazy to move on from Pete who fielded a near worst in the league defense for 3 years with a similar cast. Makes me think this has more to do with Pete being gone and still being upset about it. I could be massively wrong but that’s the vibe that comes across for some.
