Why is it taking so long to release the findings of the appeal? Is there an ETA?

If I had to guess it would be tomorrow when news is normally announced this time of year.

According to this sporting news piece posted earlier today, Goodell states the decision could come as early as next week.....

http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/tom ... ar-AAcLiYh

Tom Brady could learn as soon as next week how long he will be suspended for the start of the 2015 ... if he is suspended at all.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell told CNBC on Thursday that a final ruling on Brady's Deflategate appeal is coming "very soon," possibly next week.

So is anyone familiar with the appeals process? Does it normally take this long and if so why? Is Goodell just sitting on the toilet pondering?

I hate that it feels like he is waiting for the heat to blow over. Hopefully I am wrong.

It can take a while because this isn't the only issue that the commissioner is working on at the present moment.

Goodell has a lot to ponder. Sure, Tom Brady is guilty as hell and the Patriots have most likely been doing this for many years, but the way the NFL caught them is where the problem lies. The process in which they were caught was flawed and may be enough to let Tommy off the hook. It's like in school, you are required to show your work on your way to the correct answer and can be docked points by not having the right process along the way. Sure, Goodell has the correct answer (Tommy cheated), but his work along the way does not show the correct process.

Ha! Really good analogy.

It's been about 6-7 weeks since Hardy's appeal was heard and they haven't ruled on that yet. But Kraft was walking the streets with Googell in Utah today, so it's going to be reduced IMO and get announced soon. I'll throw up if that happens.

Ugh.. My interest in the NFL is quickly diminishing. The more I hear and see Goodell the more he becomes Vince McMahon and the NFL becomes WWE to me.

The verdict is going to be announced when Goodell can do it in a way that deflects as much heat as possible on himself as well as the NFL.

After Hardy's suspension was dropped to four games, I don't see how there's a chance in hell that Brady's isn't also reduced.

Do you really think the league wants Hardy playing on national TV in week 5 against the Patriots and Brady's still suspended?

My gut feeling is they will reduce Shady Brady's suspension to a game or 2. Palling around with Kraft confirms my suspicions.

I don't see how Goodell and Kraft aren't guilty of collusion. Rog pals around with him all of the time it seems; how often do you see him rubbing elbows with any other owner or going to their houses for parties? Their relationship reeks of blatant favoritism. Whatever the penalty ends up being should have an asterisk next to it as well.

PR wise Rog isn't doing himself any favors getting caught hanging around Kraft, especially if Shady Brady's suspension is going to get reduced. He is handing skeptics of his like myself a ton ammo.

This kind of crap happens all the time. Remember last year when the head of officiating was on the party bus with Jerry Jones and his group of hookers?

.....and it netted them a "gifted" playoff win.

According to John Clayton the NFL likes to do news releases towrds the end of the week to keep the NFL in conversations over the weekend. Last week was the was the PED suspensions and the week before the Hardy appeal results and the Brady results were expected to be this week but the NFLPA put out a timely release stating that if any suspended games remain they would be taking the NFL to court. With that new info they decided told hold off on the release and review it to make sure they have basically covered all their bases.

This to me makes sense and sounds legit. The thing though if it is correct then we know Brady wasn't going to get off scott free otherwise they would have released the info anyway.

Let the Shady Brady camp and the players association take the NFL to court and let the Shady one perjure himself under oath. Unfortunately with Rog being so close to Kraft and not having balls in general I dont see the 4 games standing it will be 1 at the most IMHO.
