This is such great news. I expected this to drag on this off season with Bennett digging his heels for Vernon or Cox money. I respect Bennett a ton for how he has acted through all of this.

Good point.

Bennett did complain there for a while last year, but he's never wavered on continuing to grind and play on a contract he thought wasn't good enough for his play....................unlike other so called team leaders on the Hawks.

So I give him props for that.

Though he did complain, he always showed up to play. And play HARD. That I really respect. Everyone knows he could get that money if he wanted to.

This is wonderful news. Nice way to end the calendar year 2016 and move forward into 2017. Well deserved contract and I believe I heard on the radio that it puts him as the 3rd highest paid DE after Vernon and Robert Quinn.

Does this mean we'll just hold open tryouts for O-Line next year?

6' 210lb LT anyone?

They threw in a pair of zircon encrusted tweezers as well.

You'd likely do a better job simply by getting in front of people if you can muster that low bar of play.

I hope he goes back to justifying it. We haven't had nearly enough pass rush even with him back.

Awesome news. Hopefully the contract stipulates only 2 pump sack dances allowed

Yay....lets not invest in the o line. Pay all the defesive players again so they can spend all day on the field while the o line gets shredded.

Hopefully of the "heavy duty" variety.

Cap is being bumped to 170M next year...........so still plenty of room to extend guys like Kam, Jimmy, Avril and Bennett, and still go after a couple FA Offensive lineman.

I also wouldn't be surprised if we dump Kearse and Lane. Not sure about their dead cap money, but IMO they haven't played up to either of their contracts.

The cap savings on Kearse are negligible from what I remember reading in the conversations around him.

Probably means they are converting Frank Clark to be an o lineman....Can't wait to see what Cable can do with him! Like the signing. He will be here 2 more years as I doubt he cashes in on that 3rd as father time/injuries usually do guys in when they get in their 30's. For some reason I suspect Avril will hit FA as will Kam. More money in FA.

Yeah I just looked up his contract, and his dead cap hit is almost 4M in 2017..............which guarantees he isn't going anywhere next year.

yep horrible signing....gonna hurt us next year when 5th string WR making that kind of coin is mostly riding the pine.

Bennett also missed the NO and TB games due to his injury. I believe the Seahawks would have won both those games had he been there. The lack of pass rush hurt the Seahawks in both those games and Bennett being out was a huge factor in that. An extension for him was overdue and it's great they got it done now.

Put him on the OL, it would be an improvement. A two birds one stone kind of thing
