I felt like MacDonald was showing him "tough love" in the pre-season because it felt like he always talked about how far he had to go. I took it like MacDonald was demanding more as he saw a lot of potential in him.

Baldy's got a couple of tweets on him. Very promising.

I hadn't heard of him when we drafted him, but when I looked him up, I was impressed by what some scouts had said about him. He has decent speed for a linebacker--4.63 in the 40, but what was more impressive is that he has an even better 10 yard split time of 1.54, which means that he has real burst and football speed.

Most scouts projected him to be a 3rd day pick (which is where the Seahawks took him), but profootballnetwork.com thought he could be a surprise Day 2 pick. https://www.profootballnetwork.com/tyrice-knight-draft-scouting-2024/

I hope he turns out to be a steal for us at #118.

The thing i love about him is that he has great anticipation of moment of contact and does a good job of getting there a splitvsecond before. This gives him outstanding leverage against o lineman to whom he's giving up significant mass. Its a trait you see in great RBs quite often and pops on the elite defenders. Chancellor and Beastmode are to prime examples. Lynch and Cam would regularly knock the snot out of guys outweighing them by a ton because the knew precisely the moment to engage them.

Knight shows that trait in almost every clip in the way he engages lineman and hits his man for the take down.

Great addition for sure.

Nice find.

That was some impressive tape there. I know small sample size, but damn, he's got instincts.

Our boy Knight may have high football IQ and a fast processor. That made him a step earlier if not necessarily a step faster. For LBs a step earlier maybe preferable to a step faster, he was in nice situations of "I am right there waiting for ya" in that highlight video.

What I like about Knight is he attacks. An issue that I had with Jordyn Brooks is he had a tendency to take a wait and see approach, often times waiting until players were at the second level. He also tended to misdiagnose plays, luckily he had the athletic talent to recover. For such an athletic and rangy LB, Jordyn Brooks sure looked static on the field.

I don't see this with Knight. He doesn't hesitate nor is he in the wrong place often from what I've seen.

He's got a ways to go in his all-around game, but he's popping off the screen in the pros more than he ever did in college. Gonna be fun to see what his ceiling is!

When your head coach wants a specific guy, and that guy plays the spot your coach made his name coaching... you get him his guy. This is why.

Admittedly, I knew absolutely nothing about Knight before he was drafted...But as soon as I heard MM had HEAVY influence on that pick with his coaching background, I had a lot more confidence in the pick and I adopted him as my adopt a rookie

Bumping this after Tyrice's first start - he did great. Starter-caliber qualities and he made some solo plays to slam the door shut on the 9ers. Between him and IV, gaps are now getting fitted and tackles are getting made. Night and day difference.

Dodson and Baker weren't good moves. Mike figured that out and turned it around, midseason, into IV and Tyrice at the cost of a fourth-rounder. Fixed the run defense in the span of three games. Frankly, I find Mike's offseason mistakes less significant than his ability to pivot like that.
