I'm not yet drinking the cool-aid that Darnold's beyond all his past performances and think it's fair for talking heads to say "I'm not yet convinced" because SD and the O have struggled the past several weeks, including the 1st 3 qts of the Lambs game.

But they can no longer say "he can't win the big game" and should have an open mind to "see how he does in the 2025 playoffs".

Sam's performance in the 4th, post Shaheed's return, was top tier and beyond what most pro QB's will ever face. To not give him the credit he deserves and/or an opening to prove himself is crap IMO.

I'm cautiously optomistic Kubs, SD, and the O take the momentum from Q4 and drive it through the next games and playoffs.

Good time to be a hawks fan!

My take on this - Kubiak was brought in with his offense, and Darnold was identified as a good candidate who knew it and could run it. They installed it and he's capable of running the plays. I think there are definitely parts of it that don't play to his strengths, and I suspect that in the offseason Kubiak (with plenty of input from Macdonald) is going to go through every play and see what worked best SPECIFICALLY for Darnold. Next year's offense will play better to Darnold's strengths and have answers to the defensive "book" on him. It'll still be the same offense, just tailored better to the player and the playcalling will also match him better.

I do think we'll see some of the same challenges with him the rest of this year. They just don't have time during weekly game planning to really address stuff like this. Year two will show improvement, I think.
