He was a UDFA that got to the NFL but never quite made it. I started watching him this summer when he did a Milroe preseason breakdown. His QB-centric content is fantastic. His breakdown here also illustrates how f'ing hard it is to play NFL QB. There is so much going on under the hood for what looks like an easy/wide open/2-yard completion. And that goes on the flipside as well when a smartly-designed and executed defensive play baits a QB into an interception.

Sam played well in that game, not perfect for sure and perhaps not as well as Stafford, but he got the W, Stafford did’t. Like others, I truly think many here need to stop the negative narrative around Darold who certainly made key throws and solid decisions when he needed to do so.

I’m pretty sure the team will be keeping him around for quite some time.

They panned to him sitting on the bench and you could tell he was like "oh okay." in a shrug-your-shoulders kind of way.

He did what coaches always tell their players to do and that is pick up the football at the end of every play 'cause YOU NEVER KNOW....

...and we saw an example of the "You never know" happen.

Playing the position is NOT EASY. (That was my point)

Those two picks he threw? We can sit here watching the overhead view and say they were bad ones (all picks are bad, actually) but in real-time with a billion things happening all at once, I can better appreciate the things going through the QB's mind during play in general.

I've been reading Vikings message boards and watching their podcasters out of curiosity all season. I think they have a generally much more favorable impression of Darnold than the national one. They know they'd be in the NFC North hunt right now with him.
