What's the over/under on how many weeks it takes Collie to suffer his annual season-ending concussion this year?

In other news, Austin Collie has been informed this is now the third time he has signed with the 49ers. He does not remember the first two...

This is a sign they aren't seeing what they hoped out of their WR population.
A week and a half of camp, then they sign a candle they tried out a long time back.

Actually...its more of a sign that they don't have any healthy WRs in camp.

Crabtree, Manningham, Williams, Jenkins, and Osgood are ALL sidelined. Patton has been told not to catch any passes because he broke a finger. In fact, they have FIFTEEN players who aren't practicing and that was before Culliver got hurt.

Collie is interesting tho. My guess is that he'll be cut before the season starts or cut when Manningham comes off the PUP.

Really? This isn't the "he's the best receiver in the world now and will never get hurt again now that he is exposed to our locker room" type of comment I have come to expect from Niner fans.

If he stays healthy though I do think he is an upgrade over 90% of your receivers there now.

Come on man. lol. :D

You know I'm not like that.

He might be better than some of the guys there now, but the reason he was available is that he HASN'T been able to stay healthy.

I just hope for his sake that he is doing the right thing by continuing to play football. Guys like Jahvid Best and Ryan Swope retired over concussion issues because they didn't want to put their futures at risk. I hope Collie isn't jeapordizing his.

Which is the ironic part. The only reason he was signed is because none of our other WRs have been able to stay healthy (Manningham, Crabs, Williams, etc). That and the fact that our normal 5th, 6th, and 7th WRs are also injured or not showing much.

Yes, very ironic. God forbid he runs into a tackling dummy and knocks himself out. Looks like the 2nd WR battle won't be won by skill, but by whoever is still standing and able to catch balls by the end of pre-season.

It's true of even healthy athletes. The NFL is so violent that on any play, it could be your last. But yeah, hopefully he's gotten some good medical advice and maybe put away some money for insurance, if insurance is available. I've never seen this many WR injuries in the 49er TC in a long time.
