Are Pete & Co. consistently outcoached by Fisher & Co.?

Every time the Hawks play the Rams it seems to look a lot like last night.....their d-line dominates our team's o-line even when Seattle's o-line is healthy (and it's obviously worse when it's not). Seattle seems to be unable to adjust to their pass rush. Other teams run wild on the Rams this year (Dallas, S.F., Houston, et. al.) yet the Hawks can't run at all. Their previously pedestrian run game gashes our team's defense for 150. Etc., etc., etc......

It seems to me from that Fisher and his coaches are always a step ahead of Pete and his coaches, particularly Bevell.

They sure were last night. We didn't adjust to a single thing they threw at us last night.

Except, we won last night.

I hate to blame injuries for anything, but we're playing with 2 backup tackles and a backup left guard. It's showing.

Caveat: Out coached until the Rams got inside the 5 yard line.

Pretty sure "Quinn and Long rush the hell out of Wilson because their tackles suck" is the gameplan any one of us would choose.

Well, they executed the only real gameplan that could've kept them in the game. So, yes, they did win that side of the ball.

I think we won on defense. Only allowing 9 points, and 3 of those were a gift from the refs on a terrible holding call against Browner, when we had already sacked the QB and if it had been holding, had no bearing on the WR catching a ball that never would've gotten out.

So I think it was almost a draw. They crushed our offense for yardage but we still got them on defense and did enough to score more.

Rams present a tough match up talent-wise with Seattle. This is compounded by the fact they had two athletic and experienced pass rushers on the edge going against a 7th round rookie and an unathletic guard. Carroll is still 2-1 in these games and has owned Fisher in the redzone.

According to Brock it was an ugly game plan that worked. The plan for the offense last night was no turn overs. That's it.

its not even like our line was getting man handled as much as it was edge rushers just running around the edge with not so much as a chip block to stop it.

As I said in another thread, the Rams over the past couple of years have been a bad matchup for us, especially their D-Line against our below average O-line. Even our healthy line last year gave up a ton of sacks and Wilson was running for his life the entire game.

Hate to be critical of Wilson, but he's not at that level of passer where he can take over a game with his arm. He NEEDS that run game to be clicking in order to open up the passing game, and the Rams have the personnel to stack the box and force our weak WR corp to make plays.......which save for one play by Tate, couldn't last night.

So to answer your question, outcoached? Not as much as outmatched up on the offensive side of the ball.

Rams do give us fits.. The game in Seattle last year I thought the Hawks were playing pretty vanilla offensively.. last night was a different story.. Rams dominated the LOS.. last year's team loses this game..

stressful win, but a win nonetheless

Dropping slant passes and Sweezy holding calls sure didn't help either.

That was four first downs negated right there

I believe it. This is consistent both with what Wilson said in his post-game interview and my impression of the game (for whatever that's worth). The coaches game plan to win, they don't game plan to blow out an opponent just because that's what the fans and the media expect.

I'd be so mad if I were a Rams fan the way that last series was called. That 4th down play is unforgivable.

Jeff Fisher has only been the rams head coach for two seasons and 3 games against us. We are 2-1 in those games.

I'm not sure you can really equate that to "consistently outcoached".

Yep, their coaches were so much better than ours, yep.

In the red zone, where it matters, what happened?

The Rams ran a total of 18 red zone plays. The result? 3 field goals.

The Seahawks ran a total of 5 red zone plays. The result? Touchdown.

When the ball got inside the 20 the Seahawks did what was needed. The Rams were completely inept.

Yep, our coaches are so stupid.

Fisher only tries against us. Everyone else in the league he doesn't give a crap about, but Seattle, for some reason, he wants to beat...BAD!

Which is what makes this win sweeter. St. Louis played the best game that they'll play all season and they still lost.

I agree--good front 7's are our Kryptonite. I hope we don't have to face the Panthers in the playoffs if we don't get our $--- together.
