Does anyone else have a hard time caring about things people are supposed to care about.

Maybe you have to have a kid...

You might, to one degree or another, be a narcissist. Lack of empathy pretty much defines narcissism.

No offense intended, and please don't murder me (in case my diagnosis was wrong, and it turns out you're a full-on sociopath).

This is up there with drone attacks. Im not feeling it. Its not tangible to me.

You don't need to be a father to feel some emotions for a 2 yr old that was beaten to death.

Dudes a piece of shit.

Lock him up and throw away the key.

I don't wish harm on people, but this bitch deserves to fry.

It's not hard to be detached from some things that happen elsewhere. Imho, it comes from all the violence on TV, shows like Law & Order SVU (which has really gone downhill), inure people to tragedies such as child or sexual abuse. It becomes hard to differentiate between tv drama and tv news, both are disseminated by the same medium and the lines begin to blur right now.

I don't have that problem in this particular instance because I have a daughter and a 6 month old grandson and if anybody should attempt any such thing against them, they would find themselves naked, out on the tundra during mosquito season.

But there are instances of news that have left me underwhelmed, maybe due to the volume of news and "entertainment" assaulting us via TV or over the ether. 9/11 seemed unreal to me because New York is so far away and it was such a beautiful day on campus that day. It wasn't until later that I was able to appreciate the magnitude of the attack.

I hate to say it, but it's crimes like this that makes me believe in very cruel torture that slowly ends in death.

That is all this animal deserves in this world.

Not sitting here crying about it but if you read it and go eh $hit happens then I am not on that side if things. At least for a fleeting moment one goes - that is just brutal and so sad. Can't even imagine what AP is thinking or how one would handle this. So unnecessary. Then I see the pic of the guy and jump to conclusions about steroid rage...

Now AP stayed at practice and said he would play. Personally I think there is something wrong there. At least the Baltimore player last year went to see the family after his brother died - came back right before game time and then played.

The game is not the most important thing. A few years back a US Postal rider fell and died on the Tour. The day after they just rode in one big group and the US Postal team crossed the finish line first as a team. I personally thought that was finding a "good" balance between letting the competition continue and honoring the person that died.

Its not knowledge, its responsibility. Its working 20 hours a day, while caring for a lil one, that's the seperation. Its cooking, cleaning, caring for someone 24 hours a day that makes it unique and indescribable, unless you venture a mile in those shoes.

I had to stop World War Z once I realized it would involve children in danger. And, I've beaten people with 9 Irons before, but now, I can't even watch pretend violence.

This story saddened me.

LOL. And yet you can mock Tony Dungy for having a son who commited suicide? Nice. You just make sh!t up as you go along, it seems to me.

I did indeed. That was more about Dungy and a little perspective.

It also was a grown child.

If World War Z was just Brad Pitt in peril, I could've endured it. Even though he's someone's son. You cant really use logic to quantify the changes.

I get it, attention whore by attacking the attention whore. But, at least be an intellectual equal. If you aren't, then run away like Roland, and proclaim "trolling".

Peterson is getting a lot of of sympathy from a lot of people. Reportedly, yesterday was the first time Peterson actually met the boy, and it was as he lay dying.

There is only one victim here, and it isn't Peterson. A two year old boy with a stupid mom and a millionaire dad he never met, who might have been a father, but was no parent.

AP just recently learned he was the father. He planned a trip to go out to meet the child but when he learned of the attack, he dropped everything and flew to SD. He met his child for the first time while he was on life support. Not sure what else he can do.

I have a great grandson the same age as this little boy. I just can't understand how someone can do something like this to a child.

How A.P. wants to honor his dead son is his business alone. I'm sure his coach and his team have given him the freedom to chose however he wants to do it. We all grieve differently, depending on our upbringing, our values and what we believe in.

Hey. NLOL. Your first response was better. No need to edit snd get so defensive. I admire your ability to justify whatever you type and get away with it. I'm not bashing. You run shit around here LOL. I like you jib.

Or, you're missing the point on separate comments; one's about a father one's about a kid. There's a difference between getting defensive and correcting statements.

Not sure I run this place, I post a lot?

Yeah definitely think he should've been in the child's life sooner, but can't knock him for what's happened and how how he's handled it.

We're told ... when Adrian was first informed about the matter, he didn't question the possibility he was the dad -- but rather asked how he could help the situation.

Sources tell us ... a few weeks ago, A.P. started to plan a trip to South Dakota to meet the child for the first time and he was supposed to fly out later this month.

But when he heard the news about the attack on the 2-year-old, Peterson dropped everything and jetted over to Sioux Falls as soon as he could.

We're told Adrian met the child for the first time while the boy was on life support.

Multiple sources tell us ... Adrian has been very involved since the tragedy and was the one pushing the have the child's organs donated to other people in need of a transplant.
